GMTV will be in widescreen from Tuesday 31st August. Whether or not this coincides with a set and/or graphics revamp, I don't know.

At last, don't suppose that includes any of ITN's output ?

I guess it'll have to!

Interesting. How do u know this Jonathan?

Strange for it to happen on a Tuesday though.
I presume that unless graphics were originally created in widescreen that they will change.
It's a bit like the straps, will they now stretch from the clock all the way across a widescreen, or end ala BBC Sport?

They usually do things at the start of september when Eamonn & Fiona return, like the new music and titles last year, with the music being dropped after two days.

It would be nice to see a set change, just something to liven it up a bit.
Obviously the old London Tonight studio would be great, but Loose Women are currently using that!

Perhaps the tuesday will be a move out of their usual studio, and thus having to go widescreen whilst moderations/alterations are being made in their usual studio.
It is a shame that they can't have the former London Tonight studio as that would be a lovely view over London at first thing in the morning, as long as there's a lot of light on dark mornings.

Isn't there a balconey just outside of the main window in the former LT studio? Imagine having some christmas trees lit up out there (as well as inside) for chirstmas.

Sorry, now it's just becoming wishful thinking.
But looking at the loose women set all they would need to do is to repaint the pillars around the window (which are currently a turquiose colour), for something like yellow, or red, and then either move the current sofa or a new sofa into there.

That is if Loose Women ends on September 3rd, it may be extended as Des & Mel may not be on due to Mel being on maternity leave. Though it could be someone else joining him for a couple of months I suppose.

I think Tuesday 31st August is the start of September this year!

Monday 30th August is Bank Holiday Monday

This means we've only two and a half weeks left of a decent female presenter 5 days a week!

Oh right. So Eamonn & Fiona are starting back a week earlier.
I wonder if any other TV changes that might occur will happen then, instead of waiting until the week after, such as the return of This Morning, The new season of shows, etc.

Turns out its Andrew and Kate again next week and then week commencing 31st August is actually Kate and Ben.

This makes the information that GMTV is getting a new look on the 31st August slightly more inplausable as surely it would start when Fiona and Eamonn returns on September 6th

Theres gotta be a few changes in the GMTV studio this year. Especially that horrible door, between the news and sofa, do they even make them anymore? Looks like they got it from a caravan! I hopes the titles will stay the same.

For me the old London Tonight, current Loose Women studio would be nice, but there's nothing stopping them from staying where they are.
The actual set isn't that old, and the studio is alright for what they do in it, which isn't that much.

What gets me more is the decor, it would be nice if they could modernise it a bit, maybe adding some light blues, some lime greens, and a more lemon colour rather than pale yellow, a bit of crome, maybe I'm going a bit too far.

But a new colourscheme, a new covering on the sofa, perhaps a brighter red, and maybe some new backdrops for the windows would be lovely.

I don't know why they can't turn an office into a studio like they did for This Morning, and presumebly London Today/Tonight.
I know it's a bit short notice now for September 6th, but maybe they could.
It's a lovely view onto the river thames, they may aswell make the most of it, and use it in as many programmes as they can.

Though then I suppose they'd make room, and Loose Women would finish, leaving an empty studio (possibly bigger) empty until next summer.

Though Loose Women could move into a big studio for the last few weeks of it's run and use rear projections of camera views out of those windows, I'm sure that the majority of the viewers wouldn't notice. I'm sure that GMTV would use this technique if they had room in their studio!

But as GMTV won't be doing this, I do hope that they have a bit of a redecoration, maybe get rid of the panelled walls for instance, and get a new rug around the sofa. It could look very swanky and modern if they tried.

Even if they don't do anything with the set I'm hoping for a change in astons, they surely won't have the usual style running across a widescreen would they?
Maybe even a new clock. I still like the idea of a clock that is the current sun graphic on the GMTV today titles that animates as it does on the titles and on the graphics for the headlines, that would look nice.

When it comes to the main graphics, I do like the 3D and glassy look of the GMTV today titles, perhaps they should update the shots of the presenters as everyone's hair will most probably have changed.

I'd also like to see them try out the music that should have been used from last september, but was dropped after two days. I thought it was nice, subtle, and yet grand in some way. The current music from 2000 needs a revamp in some way. Perhaps they should take of that ticker style effect that was added to it, for whatever reason it was!

I totally agree with you fanoftv. The studio needs re-panelling, to be more modern, just little things like that. The studio still has potential and I would like to see new astons to fit the titles, as these ones look dated.
