He has it written into his contract that he has something like 6 months of the year off to do other projects. GMTV fully expected to lose him when his contract came up for renewal I think, however they agreed a new deal which meant more money and more time off. You won't see him at all during the summer, he'll be back for the new season probably in September.

Andrew Castle and Ben Shepherd have been presenting since, I wonder if John Stapleton or Penny Smith gets a holiday at any point?!

Well I don't know about John Stapleton but aren't Andrew and Ben "Friday" presenters? I am not a regular GMTV viewer but then these people are usually on all summer, you never know GMTV might change their schedule in August, plus there's a Bank Hoilday thrown in too somewhere.

They did Volunteer Week, but no GU&G. Also this year, there are no children's programmes after 8.30 either.
GUAG wasn't popular with viewers - viewing figures dropped every time it was run in recent years, so it has been ditched.

GMTV is one of my favourite programmes, I actually get up at 5 to 6 to watch the whole thing cause the mixture of news, features, showbiz and just about everything makes it great. I'm really glad they're not doing crappy kids programmes and LK Today because I really do think GMTV Today is a great programme.
Where's the Sunday Programme gone? I like that as well.

He has, I noticed on Friday. Won't he just swap on the titles with Andrew, as and when either of them are presenting. Rather like either Andrea or Claire appear on them, depending who's fluffing up their bulletins that particular day. Did you see Claire running in for her weather the other day -- she was so out of breath Kate and Ben had to ad lib for a bit while she composed herself, before collapsing at the end. So that's makes it even between the two of them now.
