If Sky hadn't made any changes and it was a carbon copy of the old version (except indoors), surely people would complain that no tweaks had been made when it was a perfect opportunity to do so?

But it would be different people complaining. That's something people who make that point usually forget.

The sob story made all of us think 'Oh My God' aswell. All we needed to know is that she's in the RAF at the moment, where she's from, and what does she want to achieve.

They do that on American Gladiators as well.

Didn't realise Challenge was still showing the original version - it's on +1 at 7pm for anyone interested.

Looks like a very early series - currently showing a piece with Ulkrika interviewing Warrier who's got his leg in plaster! All very serious stuff.

Looking at it, you just can't beat the size of the arena, the atmosphere and John Sachs' commentary.

Yeah, it's the semi-finals of Series 1.

Rumour has it that Challenge and Virgin1 are in talks to get rights to air the later series (1996-1999). At the moment, as has been said, Challenge are towards the end of 1992, and I believe Virgin1 are airing International Gladiators 1.

EDIT: It's been confirmed that they have managed to get the later series. No episodes have been scheduled yet, but it'll be great to see the later shows again. They've not been on air for at least 4 years.

It will be a good change. I can't say that I've seen a Jeremy Guscott version for a quite a while. Did he take over in 1996, or was it 1997?

The thing with the arena is the fact that the audience looked spectacular, the space with having just one event at a time made it look even larger, and it gave them the ability to do amazing games that may not be possible in the studio, I'm thinking games like poleaxe, and especially pendulum.

Is it just my ears, or is the v/o on the Nintendo Wii stings provided by John Sachs? If it is, I'll be very disappointed to see they're using yet another Gladiators legend for rubbish promotional purposes.

Edit: After a quick look on Wikipedia, it is John Sachs. Disgraceful...
