The older presenter - forgotten his name - seems a little misplaced now with the other three. A couple of weeks ago he interviewed some supermodel or other and I found myself cringing a bit at his banter with her.

I'm sure he's a very skilled journo, but he doesn't sit well with the relaxed yet energetic team. When they sit about in the studio he appears a little uncomfortable.

Jon Bentley - who is the former producer and occasional presenter of (old) Top Gear, current producer of Fifth Gear.

And according to wikipedia he was the one that hired Jeremy Clarkson !!

So effectively he was the one that made the original Top Gear what it was. What folks forget is that the original TG wasn't just about JC, Quentin and Tiff were both integral parts of the show. I feel that the real reason that the original Fifth Gear failed was that the presenters were too lightweight to be on a serious show.

He's also the only presenter with any real discernable journalistic talent on The Gadget Show, although the chemistry between the other presenters works well. I think the programme would be much the poorer without JB on the team -- patronising schoolmaster style or no.

And someone needs to explain what a "gadget" is to Suzie. Her favourite "gadget" of this series was a kite and buggy for use at the beach.

May I remind you that this is the show that classes batteries and coats as gadgets.

Exactly: they are far too broad in what they review. I would only consider a coat to be a 'gadget' if it had a CRAY supercomputer inside and space to store your pet genetically-modified glow-in-the-dark octopus with four hundred and twelve arms.

It's meant to be a 'gadget' show, not Nuts Magazine .
