One day after the retune and already it has managed to vastly affect the Adult genre - Adult PARTY, ADULT Blue and Adult Babestation 2 have closed.

Yesterday’s channel reshuffle has shown Cellcast’s worst fears already - being pushed down would affect its business model, which we’ve seen with the purge of three dial-a-tart channels.

Good. The less tat the better - only that the capacity being released is overnight hours that aren’t attractive to be purchased by other broadcasters.

Good riddance. The plastic trollop channels should have no place whatsoever on Freeview.

Freeview is filled with terrible shopping channels spread over the top channel numbers. I would have thought that they would do a Sky and give them their own section of channels all bundled together. In the long term, Freeview needs a rethink. Less is more. There's that many poor quality channels, unnecessary +1 channels on there now and the picture quality on the SD channels are total rubbish. The HD lineup is very small. If you look at France and Spain, their equivalent Freeview line-ups are smaller in overall channels but every channel is in HD.

Can't say I'll miss the adult chatline channels. If viewers really want to call those type of channels, Comcast could (and probably already do) stream those channels online instead,

Personally I'd like to see a dedicated shopping section and if QVC and Ideal World throw their toys out of the pram, then it's their own fault. It's not like there are other ways of buying the tat that they sell.

Personally I've never purchased a single product from these channels, there are cheaper options.

Considering the childrens and news channels have gone from the 30s and 40s initially to the 200s now there isn't much weight in the argument that QVC and Ideal World launched on 16/22 so should stay there. Sky News has been leap frogged by literally dozens of channels and not sure there is a huge amount of evidence to suggest their ratings have been hit. Yes, they'll be a bit of short term confusion but ultilmately with QVC and Ideal World people are watching them because they want to watch them and if they're engaged enough with the channel to purchase they'll find their new location.

Don't we all have Electronic Programme Guides to avoid channels we don't like?

Slightly interesting that -- looking at the main six multiplexes for the moment -- we're starting to see a lot of vacant capacity becoming available again. Admittedly, it may only be temporary, but I don't there's been as much "downtime" as we have now for quite a few years, especially with the recent trend for EPG squatting.

COM4 - 2 vacant hours/day
COM5 - 13 hours
COM6 - 21 hours

.... not forgetting the still unfilled 2100-0530 BBC 'B' capacity.

Maybe the BBC should launch a channel for a market that their other channels don't really cater for.

A terrestrial channel to fill a void? Maybe they could plug the gap and launch BBC Three. Laughing
