The End

The English-language TV comedy from... eh... I don't know. (January 2010)

I accidentally found those clips from "The End", the English-language TV comedy of 1988 (probably from Britain) shown on what is now SVT2, when I was searching for some Swedish presentation clips. The YouTube user uploaded some funny bits, including:

Arrow A new, bit uncomfortable air plane from Air France
Arrow The only weapon for those soldiers of Switzerland
Arrow The Dutch way to make sure their nuclear power plants are safe
Arrow Soviet Union's newest method to censoring postages
Arrow And some other fun stuffs... (though I can't understand toilet bit and the priest bit.)

But the user didn't upload the end credits. So I don't know who made this. I made a further research, and found that it is something like a remake of the Swedish TV comedy called "Helt Apropå". But couldn't go further. And the Wikipedia's English edition has an article about the unrelated Irish overnight strand of the same name. What should I do? Do you know anything about this?

Swedish Wikipedia has this: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fsv.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FThe_End_(Helt_Aprop%25C3%25A5)
It looks like the 2 shows are related. One of the YouTube descriptions mentions Montreux ... maybe they made an English Language version for the award

It's obviously not a British programme, but it does look very similar in style to Not The Nine o Clock News

I think the toilet one is meant to be like a fruit machine.

Not exactly the best sketch show in the world.

Yes, a fruit machine that you get in pubs and service stations and airports and whatnot.

Still can't understand. I'm not British. I'm not even live in any European countries.

Oh yeah, they're known as Slot Machines in the US & Pokey Machines (according to Holly Valence) in Australia. I believe it's only the UK that refers to them as Fruit Machines due to the above picture attached, although most of them are novelty ones now (Andy Capp, The Simpsons, etc.) so the name has sort of lost some meaning now.

Although a fruit machine is a slot machine but not all slot machines are fruit machines!

Even the novelty ones feature fruit, and in the same hierarchy as always:

Three cherries - lowest win

Three plums - see a doctor, one is probably a tumour.

Still not understanding the priest bit, but I want to end the "Fruit machine" discussion. "Related videos" of the videos I mentioned has the clips from "The Prize", another English-language episode on the Nobel Prize, from the Helt Apropå team, ironically shown on the Swedish public TV broadcaster SVT. Full episode is here (Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3). It includes:
Arrow The intro
Arrow The own prize from Reagan and Gorby
Arrow And, what happened at the ceremony

And I found this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7wI1PoPyAA ) has something. The Helt Apropå segment has the English speaking without Swedish subtitles . And SVT did the reverse(?) of the end credit promos. (Tell me if it's incorrect. I can't speak Swedish.)
