Now, this has been puzzling me for quite some time.. as most things in my life do. Is this man in that Inland Revenue advert? The "tax doesn't have to be taxing" ad?

That's Adam Hart-Davis
And you can't get more British than Adam. I think his programmes about inventions and history are facinating.
That's done the producers a favour... he was sooooooooo due for the axe in 2004 anyway. Fair enough, it's a crappy character (I swear Patrick Truman is the only ethnic father in EE history *not* to tell his kids they're profound disappointments in every single ep), but he's desperately wooden and unconvincing.
And reassuring to see that Keith Vaz is as pointless as ever, too...
The problem with the Ferreira family is that like most "new" families in recent years, they get sidelined in favour of drawn out, protracted storylines involving the Slaters or the Mitchells. There have been periods of many weeks where members of the family go AWOL and suddenly reappear!
I had to laugh about the comments that Dan Ferreira was a popular character - no one I know likes his character at all! There seem to be indications that the character has some kind of mental or behavioural problem, but Dilip's overacting diminishes the strength and drama of the story.
As you have opened this discussion up to be a general EastEnders thread, can I just say how utterly annoying the show has been of late. I think its party due to the fact that its 4 episodes a week, so it is littered with drip-drip scenes where a conversation starts on Monday but isnt resolved until Friday.
How many time do we have to go through a scene like:
Little Mo
: "Billy.... I need to tell you something"
Billy
: "Yeah wait a minute Mo, before you do, can I just say how great everything is and I would fall apart if anything changed. Now what were you going to say?"
Little Mo
: "Oh nothing"
{Repeat ad nauseum for 4 more episodes}
Its such lazy writing. At the risk of boring people about Scotland's River City, at least their plots move on a pace in each episode. You are never left in the same place at the end of the episiode that you were in at the start - unlike EastEnders.
And also, i can't for the life of me understand why they hang on to characters like Gus and Tariq, they're a waste of space and add nothing to the show, and the bad acting by Dan is a joke. The programme's becoming more and more like a cartoon everyday.
The Ferreria's are little better than the last Asian family that lived in the square, who consisted of wet-blanket Sanjay, his whinging wife Geeta and their permanently screaming little brat, Shamilla.
