That was so cool!! Really hope it's on 4OD as I won't be able to catch all the episodes live, great show though, nice mix of realism (I was trying to figure out who all the BB housemates were based on) and some really quite horiffic scenes, luckily the most graphic ones weren't too close-up and done in the shadows.
I wonder if the shot of a zombie watching one of the TV screens is some sort of ironic satire about how all BB viewers are zombies or something. That and when the girl screamed "Shut up, you f***ing idiots!!" at the housemates, which is what lots of people have probably wanted to say to them for some time.
That was brilliant stuff. I hope it gets the viewing figures it deserves. A great idea to cut off the credits too for dramatic effect.
You could certainly detect Charlie Brookers writing style in the script. Especially when the bloke at the train station didn't know where he was and said something along the lines of 'I might as well be in a*s f*ck on tweed' or something like that. Reminded me of an exact line from Screenwipe not so long ago when he was talking about the Vinnie Jones ad.
We weren't actually involved in any of the zombie stuff - in fact it was all kept very quiet as you can imagine. Basically we stood outside whilst Davina announced that "Pippa" was being evicted. Then we all booed/cheered pippa and that was it - nice to have been a part of it all the same. Although I didn't manage to spot myself on TV.
Tonight through to Friday will be 35 minute long episodes instead of 1hr 10 mins as last night's was.
Then they will air all of the episodes back-to-back on the weekend to make one big feature film type-of-thing.
I'm guessing Charlie Brooker said he would only make the programme for E4 if they removed all the DOGs, credits, etc from the screen (as we know from Screenwipe he hates all of that on-screen DOG rubbish).
I think it was the only time I've ever seen E4 without a DOG (apart from when their DOG system crashes) and the only programme I've ever seen (except Spooks) that doesn't show credits on the screen.
Interesting opener to the episode as well - when the E4 announcer spoke over the top of the Dead Set logo instead of a normal E4 ident and gave us many warnings of graphic images throughout, etc.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole thing was shot day for night by the look of it - and the only down side was it made it tough to watch on an LCD tv - as the blacks were very crushed.
The pace was fantastic and the dialogue was crackling. Really well observed - which you'd expect from Brooker.
Can't wait for more.

It seems I should have watched the whole thing through.
I thought the pace was so slow and it didn't seem to be going anywhere, so I gave up at the first break.
