While there is obviously an elephant in the room concerning Paul's apparent absence, it's possible that he was simply unavailable because recording clashed with TV Showdown.

New episodes of Beat the Chasers are on their way. Unfortunately, I wasn't well for the recordings and couldn't join in this time around. I'm feeling much better now. X
Notably more generous on time too with the celebs - even Shaun Williamson, practically the king of crleb quizzing, got 45 seconds for the top offer. He probably didn't need it either.
I agree Paul's stand-up instinct was missed but overall a great episode and nice to see Darragh on BTC. Wonder whether they'll extend the theme tune when they have all 6 chasers to fit in to the opening credits, it might look a bit rushed otherwise.

Just catching up on last night’s episode - the colour balance on the new chaser in the sting and head shot seems off compared to the others and looks a bit tacked on as a result.
I wouldn't be surprised if the celebrity Beat The Chasers specials were filmed recently but the upcoming series of regular BTC was filmed alongside the second series.
