This is what I said a few pages back... Each Head to head whether it is 2 chasers or 5 chasers - they pretty much always get 1 question wrong (minimum, sometimes more, very occasionally don't get any wrong). So you are more backing yourself on how many questions can you afford to get wrong and attributing 3-4 secs per question wrong. (I.E 50 seconds - 2-3 Qs wrong. 40 Secs - 5-6 wrong). It's more the rhythmn that does folk (and the Chasers) that often leads to those sticky moments in a H2H.
For me the set lets it down, it's much smaller than other versions so the massive arena style is lost (I was pleasantly surprised that the Dutch version did such a good recreation to be fair). Offers are also interesting. €500 per question for the cash builder and (as suspected) you face one chaser for the cash builder amount. Some of the top offers have been quite harsh on time (59 seconds for €30k/40k - I think we've only seen times that harsh on the Aussie version).
The Chase US is really showing it's flaws after a few episodes. The Chasers currently have a 40% win rate after 5 episodes, on the UK show it's over 75% (similar at 76% for the Aussie version) and I don't think the low rate on the US version is down to the Chasers. Something is going wrong with the format somewhere. Really believe it's the question writing, too often the clue phrase in the question is right at the end of a very long question so jumping in to get ahead is very difficult. They've apparently sent out some early casting calls for a second series so I hope they rectify some of the glaring issues between series. $10k cash builder questions would help aswell.
Here's the latest episode for reference (according to a few on Twitter it's the biggest Chase win ever):
I wonder if The Chase US wants more winners, the UK and Australia versions is more than happy to have the contestants leave with now but perhaps they didn't want that for at least the first series.
The presenter also says the set is getting a bit of a revamp, wonder whether they'll take cues from the UK set with more screens for the floor etc or whether they'll take some aspects of the new US set. Something between the 2 could be nice.
This was confirmed a few weeks ago but The Chase Extra is set to start next Monday with an episode released at 6pm on the ITV Hub. It's for 6 weeks initially so I guess each chaser has recorded 5 episodes. They ran this for a couple of weeks at the start of the pandemic on YouTube. Strange choice of set, you'd have thought they'd have gone for something more Chase-y than a corner of bookshelves.
Are 5 shows a week just not enough? Well now you can get more of us on the brand new series of #TheChaseEXTRA is coming to the @ITV Hub next Monday, the 8th of March at 6pm. pic.twitter.com/PPI3psCqo4
