Getting close to other people isn’t key to the format on The Chase, they could stay distanced and still make a fairly normal show, so I don’t know why they’ve decided to ride so close to the rules on this.

I expect part of the reason is so that when these episodes are repeated in four years time they won’t look too abnormal.

The trouble is they do, sadly, look abnormal now. If they're worrying about how it looks in repeats over the safety of their participants and the image they portray now then they've got their priorities very wrong.

Was quite surprised actually they're on to these episodes already actually considering I thought they had a full series (10-12?) of episodes which were supposed to air in the Spring to air.

Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

To be fair if they were all tested as Kay Burley said then the long desk was perhaps just a precaution.

I can’t imagine anyone basing their decision on whether or not to social distance based on an episode of The Chase where they are not even aware of the measures that have been taken.

But it does sound like they had adequate measures in place with the testing.

I thought there were more leftover episodes too, I thought they had 10 in total, so a further 4 on top of the 6 they’d aired up until and including last week.

If they'd been a positive test during the filming of these episodes, we would have heard about it by now.

Probably won't stop certain people complaining to Ofcom or ITV though!

They've made confusing for viewers by only seemingly following distancing rules to a certain degree.
No one needs to touch anyone else on The Chase!
They don't need to shake Bradley's hand. Even when conferring during pushbacks, the team don't need to whisper or stand close to discuss their ideas. They don't need to hug when they win.
With the longer table, it is so easy to produce this programme without being close to each other.

They seem to be thinking about the repeat showings over years to come and wanting it not to look like a 'pandemic episode' upon future airings.

First of all everyone tested negative that attended the Rose Garden event at the White House yet dozens contracted COVID-19. Testing is not a sufficient defence against it. Secondly, and obviously more on thread, it is all about setting an example to the public and showing them that TV producers are doing the right thing. The spirit, if not the letter of the law, is not being followed here and at times implementing the spirit of the law is perhaps even more important.

Regular episodes don't usually get their first airing until months after recording.
So, when recently filmed Covid episodes are finally aired next year, they probably won't want to draw much attention to the fact that they were made so long ago, as life may be more back to normal by then. Hence why they want Bradley and the show to carry on as close to 'regular proceedings' as possible.

(Hope this makes sense, it's difficult to explain it when typing!)

Sorry to backtrack a bit but does anyone know where the new Chaser has been tipped to appear tomorrow? All I can see is that tomorrow's episode number jumps forward a bit compared to the rest of the week. Are we also presuming he'll appear like The Tiger Mum does on Chase AUS?

To be fair, If ITV/The Chase/those involved say that everyone was tested, I believe them. When the White House says it... Not so much Very Happy

No need chaser today, Jenny in the seat. Unless ITV made a last minute change of episode knowing Boris may steal viewers then the tip was wrong.

I’m surprised they’re not making more of a deal about a new Chaser.

Perhaps they actually will when they decide to debut his episode? When Jenny joined was there a comparable advertisement or social media campaign to support it?
