New Chaser confirmed | US revival to air on ABC

Brooklyn Nine Nine always seems sped up and I don't think that was shot on film was it?

I'm not always sure it's as simple as 24 -> 25 only.

Channel Seven in Australia have announced that they'll be doing a local version of 'Beat the Chasers'featuring the 4 Australian Chasers (Supernerd, Goliath, Tiger Mum and The Shark). It will air later this year

Think it was only a matter of time before this was announced. Only having 4 chasers I wonder how they'll work the offers? They could either opt for only 3 offers or have it so you take on one chaser for your cashbuilder round amount. They could probably get away with it just being one chaser, I don't recall anyone taking that offer on our version anyway. Suprised they haven't got one of the UK chasers (maybe Anne since she has been on the AUS version since it launched) over too.

Easy enough to adapt considering we didn't do offers for one Chaser, so either drop it down a Chaser or just drop the top offer. I suspect they are still hoping they might be able to bring in a UK Chaser but not announcing it for obvious reasons. They are planning to film in Sydney rather than Melbourne too.

Is Tiger Mum an official Chaser yet- she was still a "guest Chaser" lasting saw despite being on over a year and the only female Aussie Chaser. I think initially too the episodes filmed post lockdown largely featured her and one other Chaser due to travel restrictions preventing the other domestic Chasers joining her.
Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

You can shoot on other formats at 24fps.

It is usually as simple 24 > 25, or if it’s been supplied at 60 then often 60 > 24 > 25

Yes, there's a process which looks for the 3:2 pulldown, removes it then speeds up the resulting footage to 25.

You don't need to shoot on film for it to be 24fps, plenty of digital formats do it as well.

Inversely though it seems to be quite common for blu-ray releases of 25p content to be slowed down to 24, rather than converted to 60i. Seeing as a lot of 25p content is still usually mastered at 50i, scrolling end credits and the likes must look quite messy. Though it's also not that uncommon for 50/60i content to be converted to 24p either (the 60i content in the HD remaster of mostly film-shot shows like Friends and Cheers for example), which usually looks pretty awful.

I suspect you're right about them hoping they can get one of the UK chasers over there. Probably planning with 4 just incase though.

Cheryl is still a guest chaser although I imagine this may change and she be made permanent now that she's featuring on Beat the Chasers too. She hasn't actually featured in any of the post lockdown episodes they recorded, the Supernerd, Shark and Goliath have done all of them and they've been airing Mon-Wed with repeats of older ones (usually with Anne and Mark) on Thursday and Friday. I'm suprised she hasn't featured though as it would have helped them to vary it a bit more on the new episodes.

They're planning to film this new show in Sydney apparently (the normal show is done in Melbourne) probably because of the Victoria lockdown.

I forgot you could use digital cameras at 24fps for some inexplicable reason.

Mark mentioned in his interview on Loose Women today that he works in London, Melbourne and LA - any ideas what work he's doing in LA or if this may be a hint that he's going to be on the new US series? (around 4m45s)

EDIT - Just checked the casting call for the new US show (https://www.thechasecasting.com/eligibility) which mentions LA.

Channel 7 have moved the Chase AUS to Sydney to get around the lockdown in Victoria (https://tvblackbox.com.au/page/2020/08/17/seven-moves-the-chase-to-sydney-to-escape-melbourne-covid-lockdown/). Interesting choice as they could still have filmed in Melbourne even with the new restrictions. Should make it easier for them to film BTC there too I guess. Tiger Mum also returned yesterday for her first socially distanced episode but still as a guest chaser.

It seems that usually they only cast from Melbourne (those outside Melbourne have to cover their own expenses by the looks of it), so this at least opens up a new potential pool of contestants.

New episodes of the Chase start tonight. Safe to presume we may see Darragh for the first time this evening?

I'm not sure - this is a continuation of the last series. I think he'd already been announced as joining in the autumn prior to lockdown, but unless I'm mistaken (and I very much maybe) these will be the episodes that should have aired in the Spring, the second half of series 13 according to Jenny on Twitter. Whether he joined towards the end of filming that, or in series 14, I'm not sure - and of course they don't need to complete airing series 13 before they air episodes from series 14.

I think if we were getting the new Chaser today, it would have been promoted across the usual channels.
