Mark Speight had left the programme in February after the inquest into the death of his fiancée, so in all honesty it wouldn't have mattered to him whether there was a new series or not as he'd have had nothing to do with it anyway.
The BBC have stated that the Mark Speight episodes of SMart (which is basically all of them) are unlikely to be repeated again. Not quite sure what they're trying to do with that. The kids know he's dead, they sent thousands of comments to the Newsround website. They probably worked out ages ago that they've seen the same episode at least four times already and that's its not all done live.
You're looking at it in a strange way. As if people will watch the show and completely forget that the presenter who really made the show what it is has suddenly gone, and completely forget.
