is he facing the front of the desk of the back? You'd have thought there'd be a little well for him to sit, or the desk would be higher. at least he could have a cushion.

You can see a sort of blue sponge thing you can see, but I imagine it's still very uncomfortable. He doesn't look too unhappy though!
I can remember Ratz being on Sunday mornings with Philipa Forrester and possibly holiday mornings.
Can't put a date on it though. Must have been about 93/94. It was before Children's BBC moved into their new bigger studio.
Ratz was certainly there on the unexpected last day in the broomcupboard, which was used for an extra day because of a power cut.
Did they actually make any mention that it was the last day? I seem to remember they spent the summer on the roof of TVC (as was common in the early 90s)
I remember various sets on the roof of TV Centre for holiday mornings.
What studio did the Sunday morning BBC2 output come from then? I remember it being fairly large with a video wall to the left and backdrop for the birthday cards to the right.

Pres A (or B not really sure) one of the presentation studios, which of course CBBC eventually moved into permanently - I think someone once said on here that they knocked through the two studios to become studio A.
Just going slightly off topic with puppets but might be worth mentioning Ratz which was a computer generated cat head who cropped up a few times on CBBC on a Saturday morning before Live and Kicking as well as starring in the first series of L+K.
Seem to be having problems uploading embedded video, but this should bring back memories (good or bad, depending on your opinion!): clicky!
BTW, the voice of Otis the Aardvark was provided by the very talented Dave Chapman, who went on to have both on and off screen roles in Dick & Dom in Da Bungalow amongst other things... I believe Dave's latest role is the voice of Barry Stardust on the UKTV programme "And Then You Die".
Sorry to break up the talk of nostalgic puppets, but Ed and Oucho returned today, leaving Oucho fast asleep as Ed showed off his holiday video, made by his family. His mum in charge of the camera, with a plant and his brother 'pretending to be oucho' and his dad getting pissed off with the noise whilst sunbathing in Madeira! It was hilarious, good to see the whole Petrie family becoming part of this, shows how CBBC might be trying to aim at the slightly 'older' audience with the odd splash of adult humor and the like.
After all there is a facebook group devoted to Oucho the talking cactus.

This was afternoons, I think they announced it was the last day in the broomcupboard and they'd be in the brand new Studio A on Monday, but then Toby Anstis popped up in the Broomcupboard on that Monday saying that there were power problems. The broomcupboard of course was diesel generator supported, as per Nick Witchell covering the great storms from it.
