Anyone seen the studio yet? There's hardly any green and its basicly all white but the problem is that Ed & Oucho are complaining that its freezing and Ed's wearing a jacket & hat (maybe gloves & scarf aswell) and Oucho is wearing scarf and hat. People won't wanna see that everyday for the next few week. Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure whether it's for Christmas, or just an afternoon/weekly theme.
The idea today is that Oucho needs a hotter climate so hired some fellow Cacti to fix the air conditioning/heating system, but ended up freezing the studio.

Whether this is just an introduction to Christmas, or as I said maybe it's just a little skit. I think they've gone just a tad overboard with the white in my opinion, and as you said, you can hardly see any green remaining.

Would it be too much money to waste just for a day, and are we to expect that this is the Christmas set?

When Christmas officially starts on CBBC (I presume it will be next Monday) will they then add Christmas decorations to the snowy set such as trees to bring back the colours to the set.

I'll try and see if I can get any captures at 7.

Well at 7ish the heating got fixed (and they can't have the cacti winter olympics there) and they said its melting so the studio will be back to normal tomorrow probaly. So the xmas decorations will probaly be up on Monday like u said Wink Arrow And when Ed & Oucho go on BBC1 at half 4 all there decerations are down like on debates and even today. When do they record the CBBC on BBC1 links? because they might aswell keep the decorations up. Anyone else think it's pointless not keeping them up for the BBC1 links Confused:

Sorry about the lateness of these. I tried to capture, but my capture device failed, so I had to take some picture of the telly today, and have edited them into this weird shape, apologies for that.

So this is an iceland, but no sign of Ed's mum anywhere.

The story today is that after waking Oucho up from his 20 hours and 25 minute hibernation the chairman of the Cactus winter olympics hears about their scenario, and they end up agreeing to do it.

At this point where I've captured... a couple of people have been in to fix the heating system, and it's started to warm up, thus the computer which changed from earlier, it could have said 'Computer says Snow' or maybe 'Computer says No Heating', but I'm not sure, I can't really remember.
http://www.rp-network.com/tvforum/uploads/cbbcfrozen08tidied.jpg

So they then have to tell the chairman that what's gone on, so Ed gets the phone...
http://www.rp-network.com/tvforum/uploads/cbbcfrozen09tidied.jpg

And give it to Oucho, for a weird talking two way between the two cacti

Leaving Oucho moaning

Sorry again about the quality of those.
So what do you think to the winter set?
I missed the end, anybody see what happened at 7? I'm sure it would have involved them cooling it somehow to keep it like it is for the winter, unless it is just for this week gearing up for Christmas next week.

I quite like the snowmen, and the trees, and it certainly looks different to usual.

And finally...

... I thought I may as well whilst being snap happy.

EDIT: Thanks TVME, you beat me to it with the info.
I'm sure that they will end up keeping them somehow, surely it's a bit of a waste, isn't it, unless they slowly remove bits day by day and say that it's melting.

As for the BBC One links, they most probably recorded them at some other point, I doubt that they would have taken all of that down just for a link on BBC One.

I'm hoping that they will have Ed & Oucho on BBC One on Christmas mornings, rather than just playing things back to back.

Just found this on the BBC1 transmission details when on xmas thread of tv listingins. Arrow Well from the 2nd of January CBBC on BBC1 is on from 3:25pm (like usual) and ending 5 mins earlier at 5:30pm because of Big Cat Week at half 5. But i don't know about the rest of the year. Does anyone no what is replacing Neighbours or is there going to be more CBBC?

Xmas Day (BBC1)
09:00 Basil Brush
09:25 Thumb Wrestling Federation -Instead of TWF I would of prefered something else like Ed & Oucho Smile
09:30 Sorcerer's Apprentice
09:55 Shaun The Sheep
10:05 The Secret Show

New Years Day (BBC1)
09:00 Sorcerer's Apprentice
09:30 Sorcerer's Apprentice
10:00 The Slammer

Originally it was the weakest link, but now they've commissioned/picked up a new soap from Australia.

And they did actually take down all of the ice decorations. What a lot of effort to go to. And apparently the temperature was rising at the end of today, so it looks like they may be having more problems with the heating.

And yeah, he does look sad, strange.

It's because the heating was warming up and would melt the ice/snow so they couldn't host the cacti winter olympics Smile

Indeed, they've had fun with the set, props and the heating this week.

When he mentioned that they were going to have to get somebody in to look at the heating, could it revert back to the ice theme for Christmas next week??

Part of me was thinking that they could have put up the ice theme to record links for Christmas, a bit like the Big Breakfast used to do when they recorded their Christmas specials on a random day in late October, and because they had to have the decs up, they just turned it into their early Christmas just for a day, well until December 1st.

Anyway, that's what I was thinking. Especially if they were recording over two days during the day, and stuck in any Christmas decorations, such as a tree into the shot, and just removed those, rather than having to remove everything in both afternoons, and so played with the theme for the week.
Obviously, it's just speculation.

In a way, I'm hoping that it is like that, just something a bit different for Christmas would be nice.

I saw Johnny Ball today on Sky News taking about environmental stuff for a couple of minutes.

WOW. I'm ashamed to say I'd forgotten how engaging and absolutely brilliant he is. I am so grateful to him for all the shows he did on Childrens BBC as I grew up. I am sure for many kids he was the father they didn't have - warm, funny, fascinating and always a delight.

But more importantly he mastered this amazing skill of disguising education as pure entertainment.

You only have to look at the lack of any true stars like Johnny Ball and Tony Hart nowadays to see how children's telly has been decimated by the army of young trendies straight off their media studies courses. It's all just flashy trashy stuff starring teenagers and made by people in their 20s.

Note to BBC: it's not too late to bring Johnny Ball back.
