Does anyone know if CBBC will move in to a real studio when it gets its relaunch, or will it still use a CSO backdrop?

I passed by TC9 the other day and everything was still ready to go in there...

Do you mean that the set was in there? If so, that's ridiculous. There contract for their studio is still on, so why waste the money and not use it?

Yep, everything as it was last seen on TV. All you'd need to do is switch the lights on and away you go.

Well, BBC3 between 7-9pm is pretty dead anyway, but I think compromising with an 8pm switch time would be best.

I hope they don't decide to switch CBBC to one of the BBCi streams, with one stream is CBBC/BBCi and the other BBCi/BBC3, with only one BBCi loop available from 7-9pm. Thought that might be fine alot of the time, it restricts the options on what they can offer, which would affect many of the BBC Sport services.

CBBC already have CBBC eXtra on BBCi anyway don't they? So wouldn't that take up the last feed?

Okay so the point of moving from a real set to CSO was to save money?
Also I think that CBBC should move in to 1 lester square, it would look quite cool.

Maybe they could return?

Might sound ridiculous at first, but then why leave it as it is? Unless they're really cutting costs and won't pay someone to take it down.

That is probably it, and also if they do want to return it really is very simple to. As the studio's backed onto the Blue Peter garden, it is nice for the old CBBC set to still be there, even if it isn't in use at the moment.

And if my last post was ridiculous, try this:

TMi won't come from Lec Square, because it wil be occupied by CBBC.

Okay. That was a bit wild.

Sorry, I made that sound like it was fact, when actually, it's just me thinking via a keyboard.

CBBC eXtra isn't a permanent stream. It's only there when there's nothing else to run on 301. It's usually the first thing that gets dropped whenever an interactive stream is needed regardless of what's happening on 302.

In any case, unless there's an extra stream going on the BBC-owned Mux (or they can drop the bandwidth usage on 301 like they did on 302 for BBC Parliament) I don't see where it's going to go. Unless they do intend to drop BBC Three between 7pm-9pm as it generally shows nothing of any great interest between those times, or rotate it round to run 9pm-6am instead of 7pm-4am.

heard a rumour (just a rumour, mind you) when I went round BBC @ The Mailbox last week that a CBBC program might be using the old One Show studio overlooking The Cube and the canals. Is that studio used for anything atm?

Thats good. Do you know who's presenting, hope it's still Sam, Mark and Caroline. They were perfect!! Pity its not coming live from Leicester Square though!! I enjoyed that backdrop from there, and the set was good!!!
