I don't really understand the physical technicalities of "transpoders" (whatever the hell they are) and other such things, but don't four of the BBC channels currently share "digital TV space"? (CBBC Channel shares with BBC Three; CBeebies shares with BBC Four? Or something?).
If the CBBC channel is to be extended until 9pm, then either BBC Three will be pushed back to a 9pm start (which will make it even more likely to be "forgotten" by most viewers) or the BBC will have to obtain more transpoders/"space"/whatever on Sky/Virgin/Freeview (etc) to fit all eight BBC channels without "sharing". Wouldn't they have to pay Sky (etc) to do the latter?

Don't think this has been mentioned anywhere:

Wonder where they're getting the extra space from?

As well as a new look, the channel's airtime is to be extended, with programming continuing until 9pm each evening. BBC Vision director Jana Bennett said the extension to 9pm was a "top priority" as "we recognise children do not go to bed at 7pm". She added: "Our commitment to our digital children's channels remains rock solid."

I guess on Freeview CBBC might still end at 7pm so that BBC Three could start at 7pm as it currently does, with the channel continuing until 9pm on Virgin and Sky.

The BBC seem pretty obsessed with providing the same service on Freeview, Sky and Cable, so I'd suspect if they really need extra hours without cutting the main channels, they'd be more likely to eat into the interactive streams. Are they often in use 7 to 9 these days?

Does anyone know if CBBC will move in to a real studio when it gets its relaunch, or will it still use a CSO backdrop?

I passed by TC9 the other day and everything was still ready to go in there...

Do you mean that the set was in there? If so, that's ridiculous. There contract for their studio is still on, so why waste the money and not use it?

Well, BBC3 between 7-9pm is pretty dead anyway, but I think compromising with an 8pm switch time would be best.
I hope they don't decide to switch CBBC to one of the BBCi streams, with one stream is CBBC/BBCi and the other BBCi/BBC3, with only one BBCi loop available from 7-9pm. Thought that might be fine alot of the time, it restricts the options on what they can offer, which would affect many of the BBC Sport services.
