I think its great they've brought back the broom cupboard idea. Just shows they've gone full circle on the budget as well!

Yep - with BBC budgets plunging left right and centre (most departments have to cut 5% from their budgets each year for the next 4 years, in addition to the budget cuts they'de already sustained over the last 3 years...) there is definitely a move to reduce costs on studios.
CBBC have buy out deals on a number of the cheaper, smaller, studios at TV Centre - TC2 (once home to XChange and CBBC Channel presentation), TC9 (once home to CBBC Channel and prior to this CBBC on One presentation) and TC12 (once home to Nelly Nut and then CBBC Channel AND CBBC on One presentation)
It therefore makes sense for them to use these for productions - though it is very sad production values are dropping.
TC9 (which is quite a small space and not very practical for general production) was designed as a presentation studio - and is now being used for shows - like TMi - that would once have been in TC6. CBBC presentation is going full-circle - returning to the almost locked-off "camera in broomcupboard" style of TC12 (a studio originally designed just for sound use with Nelly Nut) - from the heady days of TC2 and TC9/TC10 with fully crewed studios, and the ability to do really creative links.
You may have noticed TC2 hasn't been mentioned. Well for a while BBC Sport were in there whilst asbestos was removed from TC5s studio (TC5s galleries remained in use). However TC2 is now being cleared, and a little bird tells me it will soon be the new home of a long-running children's magazine show, recently hit by a phone in scandal, and that the budget cuts are so severe it may be running on only 3 cameras...
The internal debate about content vs delivery rages - should the BBC be making decent, high quality shows with the licence fee money, or should it be delivering cheaper stuff via a greater variety of means on a greater number of platforms and outlets?

That is pure madness and will do no-one any favours in the long term. Someone really needs to look at the big picture.

I'm not sure if any have been posted yet, however here are a couple shows of the studio...

It reminds me of a cross between the broom cupboard and ITV's PlayDJ studio. From quickly watching it looks like they're using a couple of cameras, presumably locked off, as there didn't seem to be any movement from them. At least it's better than the blue screen continuity in my opinion.

What if they ended up moving into those cardboard mock-ups of the studio that they occasionally do?
'And here's one I made earlier - your very own full-size Blue Peter studio!'

Definite nods to the Broomcupboard and to Swap Shop with the clocks there. Looks good, I'd prefer it to be true single camera though rather than cutting to a close-up of the puppet. In fact it's a little strange that the puppet has a close-up camera but the presenter doesn't!
