I wonder how they're going to re-create the Leicester Square set? TC9 must be bigger than its described on the tvstudios website.

Perhaps they will knock the wall into the gallery, thus creating a larger space.

Won't they need the gallery though, unless theres one close by that they can redirect it to. The studio looked bigger pre 2002 relaunch, when they seemed to close the set in a bit. Remember, theres the old phone room area, but this is also where the make up room is so they may keep that. Surely the old leicester sq. set wasn't that big was it? I'm sure that they won't be able to add the upper deck due to height restraints.

The only thing that they will really miss from the original are the audience gathering in leicester sq, unless they do the old Live & Kicking thing and gather by the gates of TVC (though surely that's only if there's a big name guest).

I think I would personally prefer them to be on longer and include a couple of cartoons.

I wonder if the choice to put it into studio 9 was production idea - to keep it small, a director decision - to get some use out of TC9 or budget restraints. It will be interesting to see how they recreate the set, they do have the windows, though they only overlook the Blue Peter garden that should be interested Confused

From memory CBBC used to have a raised area in that studio some years ago, as occasionally a presenter would slide down a fireman's poll, albeit only a metre or two height difference. So it would be possible to have a slightly raised area I think.

I think the phoe area was still there after 2002. I saw the start of CBBC Breakfast one morning, and saw the presenters walk out of it into the studio. The part where they entered the studio was the part where they had the curved wall next to the lift.

If anyone working nar TC9 could provide pictures of it, both now including areas we didn't see on screen and during the TMi set build, that would be very interesting. I doubt that's possible though.

I think you're confusing it with Studio A, the studio used before they moved into studio 9 (in 1997 I do believe). They had a raised area and the firemans pole, to the left of the 9 screen videowall (that then moved to Studio 9 at first rearranged into the shape of a 9 and then used as the wall until the sept. 2001 revamp).

And Jugalug as for the pictures, that would be very interesting indeed, I bet its a bit too late now, if no ones already taken any, I presume that TMi will be rehersing already.

I don't think they used that area as a phone room after 2002 relaunch, though I could be mistaken. Didn't they install a projection screen down near the door at one point, and they definately made the studio smaller by ending it by the seating area to the left of the lift, instead of having the studio running up to the doors (that were covered with programme logos circa 1999), that backed onto the gallery - at a guess.

I taped it on Friday to see if there would be any trailers for the new look and Gemma said that she was leaving CBBC after 4 and a half years and Sunday on the CBBC channel is her last day.

The Scorpion is to promote Scoprpion Island, where as the CBBC bug with the dynamite trail symbolises the length of time the CBBC bug has left.

Also noticeds that from tomorrow the Your Life section of the website is closing.
