I was under the impression that CBBC was actually run as a single programme in the eyes of TX and that Studio 9 (as it was then) actually played out the shows, hence the reason for ARCing 4:3 shows. Has this changed of late?

I thought that it kind of is and it isn't - pres cut up Studio 9 and they stay on air for the whole afternoon, but the programmes are played from pres and picked up as an OS in Studio 9 - I've seen reference to the feed that is sent to the nations being labelled as "clean feed to the nations and CBBC" somewhere (can't remember where, possibly a behind the scenes video on POV or something?)

Is that still the case? Not long after they moved into the office set (perhaps when they moved to the East Tower) they stopped shrinking credits completely, and also lost any transitions in and out of idents/programmes, which made me think wonder if the office set/gallery was just being put to air for the duration of the links and not doing anything else.

Also Iain has a kind of catchphrase of "run network", is that actually an instruction to anyone or is it just a running joke of some sort?!

It's a running gag, i.e not a very funny one.

Actually, run network is what CBBC say behind the scenes at the end of their links to cue transmission to play the next programme. They usually ignore Iain's "run network" but on occasion, Hacker has adlibbed a "run network" and transmission have accidentally used it as a cue and cut Iain off as he wraps up.

I did read that CBeebies pres has moved back to TVC - will there likely be a new set?

The current one is looking very scruffy now, presumably the links are still coming out of teddington right now?

It's been in TV Centre for ages, with the old set. There'll be a new set in September after the Salford move.

I know we are asking a lot of the BBC....but is CBBC getting a new set when they move?

I had no idea! I would have assumed they'd given the corners a lick of paint... the continuity still looks like it's been recorded on a 15 year old tdk 180 vhs cassette though.

why is the picture quality of the links so poor still?

note:

my little girl is addicted to cbeebies (show me show and mr bloom's nursery in particular) so I get to watch a fair bit of cbeebies in the morning.... I don't watch it out of choice Wink

Yes.

If they're going to have new sets for CBBC and Cbeebies, it would be a good time to update the logos - Cbeebies has never changed theirs.

Neither really needs updating, though.

The blinds at the back of the office set are looking a bit tatty but that kind of adds to it really...the general concept works I think.
