Yep, its been like that for 3 years.
I haven't seen much CBBC presentation since the 2007 rebrand but if the above shots are representative of the state of the current package then it's appalling how drastically standards have been allowed to slip.
Unfortunately it's only a small part of a much wider decline in standards across the BBC in recent years.

Well that's not exactly a fair representation of the 'CBBC package'. They have lovely polished idents, promos, endboards, coming up graphics and so on. The only time the Powerpoint graphics are used is in the presentation links in the "CBBC office", and they're usually supposed to look slap-dash and comical. For the fast turnaround, Powerpoint (whilst far from ideal) lets anybody with a bit of I.T. knowhow knock up stings and graphics for sketches which were only written the same day. Plus, Powerpoint graphics can look really nice if you have somebody with good design skills making them.
For the sake of a handful of throwaway gags, I'd sooner the £40,000+ graphic designer salary is invested elsewhere and they can carry on using Powerpoint... although I suppose they could upgrade to a newer version. Or use a Mac with Keynote.

And very good it was of them to go to the effort. I know continuity wasn't kept much but I was quite surprised how much was from VHS - pretty much nothing prior to 2002 I think was of broadcast quality. Much of it seemed to be the clips Greg Taylor has on his Broom Cupboard website, so mabye that's just the bulk that remains.
They also superimposed Iain and Dodge in the 1993 broom cupboard (again using a pic from the aforementioned website), showed the infamous Schofield breakdown clip (which curiously only seems to ever be shown now in that clip from a blunders show with laughter all over it ), and had Toby Anstis and Zoe Ball in as guests. There was one section where they were looking at fashions from the past, and the pic of Toby they used was a still from one of my You Tube videos
Gordon the Gopher was on too...wearing his "Going Going Gone" t-shirt and sitting on his sofa from the 1992/3 Going Live set!

I'm almost certain that's because that's the only footage that exists, it was shown as part of The Late Late Breakfast Show that week in 1985, with Phil appearing to collect his Golden Egg Award, and the caption "BBC CHILDREN'S PRESENTATION" is a Late Late Breakfast Show caption. Presumably the Late Late team got the tape to put it in the show, then threw it out.
I was impressed with the effort given no child would care, although I'm sure I wasn't the only one who noticed that the sketch set "25 years in the future" had a caption announcing it was 2025. Not quite...

The new promo endboards are brilliant! What did everyone think of TMi's first show? I thought it was quite good - it was a shame we couldn't see Are you scareder than a 10 year old, but I liked the new game Inflation. I would've liked to have seen The Wanted perform live however, to give the show a more Friday feel! The studio was looking brilliant too. On the whole, a good first show!

I don't think pres output was routinely recorded, other than VHS for review/log purposes. I wouldn't be surprised if Greg hadn't supplied those recordings to CBBC for use in the montage.
