Is another show using studio 9? hence the pre-records?

Nope, it's a standing set, they just can't afford to do them all live.

How will they be pre recording them? Will they be doing more than 1 show on Saturdays? How are the crew paid to affect the programme, are they paid by the day or the hour. If it's by the hour, how does this affect the cost if they were to do the programmes each Saturday?

It may not be just down to the crew, is Studio 9 still on long-term lease to CBBC? If not maybe they can't afford to book it for as long.

That's right, Ben, it's to do with the studio time more than the cost of the crew. By pre-recording a number of the shows, they can halve the number of weeks they need to hire the studio. The cost to use studio9 is extortionate - totally disproportionate to what it's actually worth.

Studio crew are paid by the day but if the recording runs over they get paid extra by the hour. Some shows are being pre-recorded mid week.

How have they actually booked the studio, is it so that they will be recording the full series in half the amount of weeks? I wonder why they haven't chosen to use a different studio complex, for example didn't Transmission Impossible come from Pinewood? Is it due to getting guests on the show?

I assume some of todays show was recorded out of order? The part with fat Sam proved todays was pre-recorded as the windows behind fat Sam and Mark were totally dark!

Weren't there some parts of last series where bits appeared to be dark as though they'd filmed them early morning before the show went on air?

I don't know how studio bookings and stuff like that work, but why are the BBC paying themselves to hire TC9? I thought the BBC made TMi?

Catching up on todays TMi on the iPlayer now. Looks good from what I've seen so far.

Isn't it because the resources part was tuned into private subsidy?

Studio 9 has the garden, and also some set features like the glass block wall. The stage at Pinewood would be bigger than TMi require, and it's just finished being used for Bamzooki so it wouldn't have been clear in time for TMi.

The BBC does make TMi itself, but it hires studios from 'BBC Studios and Post production' which is a separate company now.

How many of the 13 episodes are TMi pre-recording? Will they be live near Christmas?
