It'll never beat Heartbeat tomorrow (assuming it's on a 8pm).
Yup, both Heartbeat and Casualty are on at the same time tomorrow night. Those that want to see both
shows will have to watch one and tape the other. Those that want to see both shows, but have no VCR,
are quite literally screwed! But it's only a matter of time before this weekend's episodes of Casualty are
shown on UK Gold. The way UK Gold is run these days, that'll be no more than about six months off!
That's the one. Her voice sounds too in a booth not the studio though.
That'll be because it's meant to be as if you are hearing the audio coming from a TV set.
Nah I'm not that dumb. lol. It sounded like the anno's you get over an Ident - that sort of sound. If it was a TV set they'd have that sort of ringing from it.
I'm not normally one to phone up numbers given in fictional programmes, but the way that helpline number was given out was such a blatant invitation that I just had to try it. It doesn't exist. Pah!
Wow... just watched it.... so dramatic. I just hope that the next time I travel down to Devon on the train that that doesn't happen... mind you, there's only about 1 tunnel on the London-Tiverton route but anything could still happen... What was weird was they sounded the sirens when they thought the tunnel was going to collapse but it didn't.
I only wish that I'd recorded yesterday's episode as there was no recap of events at the beginning of this one so i'd know how it all began, ah well.. I'm sure it will be on UK Gold in a few months once they've finished showing the episodes from the 70's with a young Charlie in them!
They must spend millions on these episodes, they'd have to get a train all marked up with the "Trans West Trains" logos/colours etc... it wasn't an actual train line either, apparently it was all filmed at the privately rune Nene Valley Railway in Peterborough. It looked very well done, actually and it was very considerate of the BBC to offer a phone number to call if you'd been affected by any of the issues in the episode, for example anybody who'd lost a friend in any of the train crashes we've had in this country..

We didn't actually see the train crash - just that pair in the loo snuggling, then a few crash sounds and the lights flicker and they fall over. We didnt see external shots of the train derailing i presume?

The two episodes cost a total of just over £4m, which included the hiring of 1500 extras and the purchase of four rail carriages, which they could then trash as they pleased.
I presume as it was a privately run railway, they had to rebuild that tunnel brick by brick, unless they just stuck a whole load of bricks there to make it look like the tunnel had collapsed....
Majority of the shoot for the train was in Hertfordshire and if you do the mathematics you'll see that the bulk of the money was spent on the people and not the props.
It was nice to see that acting was given priority over spectacle, some superb performances.
I did notice that at Casualty base for one scene they found themselves short of people. People in the relatives rooms listening to the priest, at least two who covered their faces were doing so in order to disguise the fact that they are regular supporting artists (don't ever call them extras!!) who play a porter and a nurse.
Heartbeat was great too, a particularly interesting piece of acty eye contact, some 60's-70's music and the frying breakfast scene had me on the edge of my seat.
When it comes to HeartGBeat- are they ever moving into the 1970s? The show has bene on for 11 years and is still set in the 1960s. Surely they should let times move on?
