ME
I personally liked when they set the building on fire. I prefer when one of the actors is killed of then just leaving which is more common in recent times. It makes it more exciting
It was exciting at the time, and maybe ok as a one off, but for a drama like The Bill it couldn't go on being so soapy forever. Ratings were up and down, whereas now they're a bit lower but at least they're consistent. Soap fans are so shallow so The Bill is probably better off moving to a more grown up slot and securing its future this way.
The Bill has had many great episodes in the past but the storylines that stand out for me of all time have to be..
- June Ackland's house fire (1993)
- Beech on the Run (1997)
- Jim Carver's battle with alcohol (2000)
- The bust up between Meadows and Chandler (2003)
- The live episodes (2003 / 5)
All of these (with the exception of Meadows and Chandler) I think were shown at 9pm.. so perhaps The Bill may bring out some dramatic stuff again but not if they go over the same ideas i.e. Sun Hill blowing up..
