Notice the credits scrolled too, which is against the network guidelines - not that they've much to lose by ignoring them now
I assume ITV must have given the OK to that, as they have the right to ask for a re-edit if the closing credits don't comply with the guidelines!
yeah was going to say the same thing. Sometimes ITV have been a bit funny when other programmes have ended I.e not seemingly letting them have special credits. But thankfully they did the right thing and let them have it.
Throughout the lunchtime news we had a five minute long puff piece for the final ever episode of The Bill, which was announced at the end as being "tonight, here on ITV1".
One problem. STV ditched The Bill some time ago, and have proven to be justified in that decision. Yet they had to broadcast a blatant plug for the show without any warning. That's progress - nowadays broadcasters don't even bother with the words: "Except for viewers in Scotland".
Ah well, if nothing else it'll help them with their court case.
On a possibly more on-topic mode, it is sad to see The Bill bow out, but it does seem to have been beyond its sell-by date and has at least got to go with some dignity.

Whilst I take no pleasure in the demise of a long running programme, especially one which gave so many young actors their television début, it would be marvellous to hear the fifth estate in Scotland saying, "oh, we got it wrong when we rubbished STVs decision".
That's unlikely, given an un-named arts editors (who is a very good pal) being a *massive* Bill fan - and believing that STV pulling the plug was somehow the tipping factor in ITV dropping the show.
ITV police drama The Bill drew to a close last night after 26 years on the air and bowed out with an audience of more than 4.4m.
After 2,400 episodes, the Sun Hill-based drama locked in an average audience of 4.31m (18.8%) viewers on ITV1 and 105,100 (0.46%) on ITV1 HD across the 9pm hour, according to overnight Barb figures supplied by Attentional.
The final instalment of a dramatic two-part storyline was the highest-rated episode since the show was switched from Thursday to Tuesday nights in April this year. It added an extra million viewers compared to last Tuesday’s performance, which drew 3.4m (14.5%).
ITV first moved the police show into a 9pm slot on 23 July 2009 where it averaged 3.95m (15.33%) viewers - excluding two Tuesday episodes in late December last year - until 13 April 2010, when it was shifted to Tuesday nights. Since then the drama has averaged 2.76m (11.93%) viewers.

STV isn't ITV1 though is it, so I suppose there is no need to say except for viewers in Scotland.
