Considering they found out yesterday, and have stated the programme is ending, I'd say that says they aren't trying to sell it.
You're making assumptions again.
There is no evidence either way as to whether TalkbackThames have tried to sell the programme to someone else or not. They could, of course, have just decided that they don't want to continue making it anyway.
I suspect Talkback Thames can get more value out of the franchise from repeats now it's axed, rather than trying to have it continue with another broadcaster - almost certainly at a reduced cost. A switch in broadcaster would only be delaying the inevitable anyway, just as last years revamp was really.
As for how it will end - blowing up Sun Hill for the 368th time might be the obvious solution, but as they wrap up filming in six weeks time, I can't see it being anything major.

How about making real:::::
Sorry lads Sun hill is ear-marked for closers as part of a cost cutting measures, as the met has to reduce costs as our budget been slashed by 20%, you all being transferee to 2 other stations. There are plans to sell the land to housing development soon. Further to this only police offices will be moving and all other staff are made redundant and all equipment with in the station will be sold off to help curb cost..................................

That wouldn't happen, Sun Hill is the BOCU, so Barton Street and Stafford Row would be sold off.
Im not surprised by this news - The Bill has had its day. Im surprised it didnt get axed sooner to be honest.
It's debatable but I'd say ITV slowly killed it over the last few years. That and the fact the Paul Marquess era was the last of the best episodes.
It was the Paul Marquess era when the rot started. For instance, how many times does the average police station get blown up? It also seemed to be the sacrificial lamb whenever something major was on (like the wretched football). It was obvious that ITV just wanted shot of it.
A great shame, as recently it was getting better. Now ITV will just be home to a couple of soaps and the latest Simon Cowell-inspired cr*p.
As said in another thread filming is nearly over for the bill after over 25 years on Television. Its quite an annoyance to see such a popular show axed when many broadcasters show programs of poor quality and lack of imagination. For such a drama to last 25 years The Bill had to be amongst the most innovative and loved show by the viewers and I know I was one of them for many years. It's A bad day for British broadcasting but hopefully The Bill will be back sooner rather than later or never as the case may be.
