I'm enjoying it now more than ever. The problem with the Bill for me was the storylines were so gripping yet there were too many episodes to keep up on. Now it's once a week, I can actually keep up with it.

Just a note to say that the into breaks music is now slightly different. It consists of just three percussion beats that sound on the 'THE' and 'BILL' and 'END OF PART X'
This has been the case for about three episodes now but isn't always the case as the usual music that is still used on the out of break bumpers is occansionally used on the into's.

They seem to change it from break to break. I think the music is chosen depending on the mood of the closing scene.

Just been watching lots of older episodes on YouTube (1998-2000ish) and I have to say, it was much better back then. Single camera for most scenes, little use of tripods, clearer picture (less grainy) and none of those silly shots of the buildings with sirens overlayed in between scenes.

One thing I did notice as well, was there was lots more humor in it, it wasn't a complete joke from start to finish but it had little one line gags in it, the 'new' Bill tries too hard to be serious and the music they insist on scoring it with is crap and irritates the hell out of me.

The executive producer has read what the viewers/fans want and just ignored it, if he wants scores and actors barely old enough to shave he should have go into film not television. He is trying to sex up a show that doesn't need it.

I also dislike the titles, that are plain and boring. They are too cold and dark and this can contrast badly when the open leads into the LIGHT BLUE AND BABY BLUE briefing room. It's a joke.

Another thing, the colour of the police station, it's rank. Light blue is foul and the interior corridors look like some new hospital, what was wrong with the old greys?
Allow me to demonstrate:

Maybe it's only me, but I think the before was better.

As for the axing of established characters, I think they need to learn, a disagreement with a director is hardly reason to cancel someones contract (Look at Jeff Stewart).

For all they hyped it up, I fail to see how axing the ONLY convincing character in it makes it more realistic. It's really gone down hill since the relaunch. It makes the Gabriel Kent storyline seem worth watching.

To summarize:

I haven't watched any of the new style series. It's just not The Bill anymore for me. It may as well be CSI: Sun Hill.

CSI: Canley, They hardly ever mention Sierra Oscar. It's always Sierra Bravo and Charlie.

If you haven't seen it, what qualifies you to make that judgement?

Well, that's just pedantic. Of course I've "seen" it. I do not like the new theme, camerawork, etc. The list goes on.. what I'm basically saying is, it's not for me anymore.

I personally prefer the episodes from the early 2000's.The story lines had a bit of everything thrown in and actually showed us what being in the police was like unlike today where all the focus is on the case at hand.

It had a great period from 1998 until shortly after Brownlow left in 2000

Yeah that was a great period...didn't think it was that long ago. Must be getting old!
