I've been watching more or less since day one and love the show so Im disappointed that this has happened.
ActuallyI recently emailed ITV about the listings. Specifically on BT Vision.
It wasn't possible to do a series record because they'd put the episode title in with the series title.
So you'd get "THE BILL: THE SHORT STRAW PART 1"
which of course to the PVR's was a completely different show to "THE BILL: THE SHORT STRAW PART 2"
I emailed them and after quite a short pause got a reply saying they'd now changed it and now I can record the series. Good times!
Now there's going to be less to see anyway: Bad times
I think the best option would have been to split the difference and drop it to around 80 episodes - so basically when football airs on a Wednesday (as the Champions League will as well next year), the edition is dropped rather than rescheduled.
The move to 9pm is a good one though - ITV have practically given up on 9pm drama, so moving The Bill fills the slot once a week, and although it's perhaps not for the right reasons, I think many of us here have been calling for more entertainment based format to air midweek.
Anyone know when the switch to 9pm is happening?

How many episode do there have? that might be another reason, there could mothball the bill aswell! If there 20 episodes made then it will take them half the year to broadcast them thus saving even more money

The Bill is owned and produced by TalkbackTHAMES not ITV.
Not likely, but if TalkbackThames were really bothered about itv dropping The Bill to once a week could they choose to sell it to Five or elsewhere instead?

They sell episodes to ITV for them to transmit.
Yes Bertlesman/RTL (aka Thames Talkback) own The Bill but it is ITV decides how many episodes are made each year as it is ITV that provides thee money to Thames to make the show (via various ITV Guarantees through Royal Bank of Scotland!!!)

Think they're starting one episode per week in september.
I personally think that the Bill should be on 3 times a wek. mon, tues, wed. the amount of times the bill has had to not air its shows because of the football is appauling. In the likely case that The Bill makes a 3 parter episode, it will seem ages until the next installment. in Some cases because of football and other one off must see itv programs it could even be a whole month between episodes. However, the 9 o'clock timeslot is much better however younger audiences may drop considerably. Any thoughts?

I would've thought the new timeslot might loose The Bill more of I'ts older viewers?
