I thought the camera work was dreadful last night. It's usually shaky but it works well because it has a sense of immediacy and works within the context of a police drama. But last night they kept cutting to these jerky close-ups every few seconds and it looked dreadful. Good episode but I hope all that nonsense was a one-off.

Perhapps it was the cameraman from The Bourne Ultimatum? I like the current opening titles they seem modern and upbeat. The music is the best remix so far. I heard rumours that The Bill was being cut short to one episode a week.

I dont think that would be a bad thing - it would help keep the quality high.

I don't know about that... some of the longer storylines carry over from Wed to Thurs, it works well like that. If you left it a week, you might lose the thread of the plot over that time, especially with the more complex plots-- so best to have the conclusion on the following day I feel. In fact the Thursday episode is usually set the day after Wednesday's episode.

I know you have the recaps at the beginning of the epi, but that doesn't adequately sum up all the comings and goings of the previous I don't think.

To me it works fine as it is. Quality of the storylines is at the best it's been for ages, so I don't think quality is an issue. Plus there are plenty of coppers to pull the storylines off!

From ITV's point of view, what would they put in that slot, that would pull in that many viewers? Depends on what Talkback Thames's plans anyway, and how many episodes they are contracted to produce?

I watched last nights episode of The Bill on ITV1 London as ITV1 Wales were showing the Rugby however I happened to have ITV1 Wales on after the late regional news and the episode of The Bill they showed was Wednesday's. I assume this was an error as Wales had already shown this episode on Wednesday at the same time as the rest of the network. So when will ITV1 Wales show Thursdays episode?

Monday night, after the late regional news, according to the RT site. It's an updated listing which suggests that the replaying of the Wednesday episode was an error and they're now showing the Thursday episode on Monday night.

Alex Lovell (from BBC Points West) just appeared in The Bill, playing a reporter. She did a good job.

Who'd have thought it eh? A reporter doing a passable acting job as a reporter? Astounding.

Once again, ITV has decided to show a new series of a programme at 9pm on Thursdays. But of course, it's essential that I'm a celebrity is shown, so that goes out at 8pm. So yet again, until I'm a celebrity comes to an end, The Bill is on once a week on a Wednesday, instead of twice a week. I'm quite annoyed at this, because I rather enjoyed last night's episode of The Bill, and have now got to wait a week to follow the story, and the same will go for the next few weeks as well.

Would have been nice if ITV put this new programme on hold for a few weeks and not do exactly what they did last year. Then again it would be nice if ITV stopped recomissioning the same bloody programme every year with those 2 geordie munchkins.

Ha! My grandmother (89) says Ant and Dec "should get back to Blue Peter". I tactfully explained that neither were on BP...

Agreed about The Bill being cut back - why is it always ITV's more worthy output that suffers in the name of reality TV? Sunday and Monday was effectively "a tale of two 9pm slots" - on Sunday, an excellent timely drama but the same time 24 hours later a trashy reality show.

It's not just because of I'm a Celebrity... that The Bill has been rescheduled to one episode a week.

At the moment they are currently running an interactive storyline and the final installment will be based on viewers comments when the Interactive Incident Room reopens at the end of next Wednesday's episode.

ITV and FreemantleMedia want the storyline to be kept in a near-live state as possible with the next two weeks episodes starting at 8pm in Sun Hill and finishing at around 9pm (as the broadcast).

I hate this trashy reality show as well but I do welcome The Bill being cut down to 1 episode a week for the time being.

Last nights episode was excellent.

I don't know if anyone still watches The Bill but this is a real shame as he was a fantastic actor but looks like the career of one PC Reg Hollis is over after 24 years...

In all fairness, it seems Jeff has some unstable problems and I hope he gets well soon.

I'm not a regular viewer of The Bill, just caught the beginning of it today, but how long have they replaced the "previously" section at the beginning with a "tonight, on The Bill"?

Seems a bit silly really, telling people what's going to happen in a drama before it even starts!

And then they put the title on the end of the titles, so far over to the right the 1 of "part 1" was off the edge of the screen. (Watching in widescreen by the way, dread to think what it was like on analogue).

I noticed this too. I thought that my TV was set up wrong for a start, and then thought about it for a second, and corrected myself.
Which begs the question, why does the title now appear on the programme, and why is it also listed in magazines and on EPG's? Does it really tell you that much about it?

As for the tonight part, surely this is something that ITV should be using and adding over the credits of Coronation Street now that they have a room to show a full screen picture. They could have edited out the 'Tonight on the Bill' voiceover and cut off the bottom (which included the 'Tonight' bar).
