Just started tonight! Fantastic episodes this week I agree.

Brilliant episode tonight. I haven't watched The Bill for ages, but how long have they been doing really random camera cuts, where it cuts but it doesn't cut to a different angle, it just cuts to a slightly zoomed out version of the current picture. Slightly weird!

they were trying out a lot of different stuff this week - going back in time, shaky camerawork. Wasn't very traditional The Bill, but agreed, excellent episodes.

The Bill is must-see viewing these days - back to being about cops-nicking-villains and not cops screwing other cops. Paul Marquess was a liability to the show and should never have got the producer's gig.

So why didn't you post it on here as well-- you're not that sharp yourself
Anyway I don't pollute myself with the Deadenders thread. Perhaps when the BBC produce a soap that is well-acted, well-written, entertaining, warm and funny, I might just watch
I think the new executive producer has done the world of good for The Bill , it concentrates far more on police work and keeps personal lives to a minimum these days, unless it is relevant to the plot.
I agree last night's epi was The Bill at is best, well shot, dramatic and lots of plot twists. In fact most of the show's storylines have been compelling of late.
As for them driving around London at more than 25mph, the Skens weren't exactly adhering to rules of the road like red traffic lights and giving way to other drivers, which slow everybody else down!
Of course police can drive around fast when they're in an emergency too, it may come as a shock to Londoners, but you are supposed to give way to police vehicles
They have lives to save/doughnuts to buy after all.

I know, im slow, story of my life. As for EastEnders - i dont want it to become Neighbours or Corrie - laugh a minute one liners with the odd drama.
Back to The Bill, i watch it on and off but the promo i seen for the shooting felt very exciting, are this weeks episodes repeated at the weekend? Im sure ITV 3 use too?

You can hardly compare Neighbours to Coronation St ! It's like comparing an deck-chair with an egg-whisk. The ratings for Coro are far higher than Neighbours... and ahem... EE
Coro is far better! It isn't just a "laugh a minute", you do get drama. Take Eileen with the baby a few months ago-- heat-wrenching stuff... drama that was well acted and well written-- EE take note.
If you call EE's constant depressing shaaht-fests drama, then you can keep it Onetrickpony
EE is the antedote for Prozac
Anyway The Bill is worth a watch from this week, I think it is repeated on ITV2-- I'm not so sure when though.

Laugh a minute one liners? You sound almost like Banks! I agree Corrie ain't great right now but it's hardly the way you've just described it.

I agree. Corrie gets the balance between drama and comedy right, and its well ahead of the other soaps (both uk and aussie) IMO. Corrie is better than Neighbours and Hollyoaks IMO. Cant comment on EE as I never watch but the general opinion is its rubbish.
As for The Bill, its definately a lot better since they went back to how it used to be i.e. less soapy, more drama series.

The humour/drama balance is, admittedly, most balanced on Coronation Street BUT it is never just right. During Killer Katy it was all the way to the drama side, during the Summer of 2005 it was all the way to the 'comedy' side (and it was bad comedy too, usually with Cilla) and right now it's more on the comedy side with little drama of substance.
Don't watch Neighbours but Hollyoaks has improved a lot and some of its episodes have been leagues better than Corrie. It seems to be more stable in terms of plot infrastructure and characterbase too, and seems more 'alive' than Coro. Right now.
