Although I found it a bit far-fetched the whole husband and wife situation of Kathy off EastEnders and the other bloke from Barton Street. "This is my patch.." etc.
Sergeant Nikki Wright, played by Jillian "A1 layby" Taylforth
Sgt Wright transferred from Barton Street, where she had met and worked with her husband-- hence the banter between the two
Irony time now.
Remember a few years ago on BBC2, when they had a drama doc on George Corman, the legal bloke who was involved in the A1 layby libel case?
They had a reconstruction of the Taylforth segments.
Remember who played Taylforth in those segs?
Step forward Lisa Maxwell.

Thanks-- how funny is that haha
I feel sorry for Gary Lucy. First he gets dominated by Gillian Taylforth in Footballer's Wives (Kyle's mother), now the same is happening in The Bill -- Will Fletcher's sergeant!!
Maybe they could find nice a dogging story for Sgt Wright to cover

ITV chiefs are set to slash The Bill to just one episode a week — as ratings fall, TV Biz can reveal.
The cop drama, which has been running for nearly 23 years, is currently screened on Wednesdays and Thursdays in a primetime 8pm slot.
But ratings have dropped by a million to an average of five million. Bosses tried to revamp the cast by hiring ex-EastEnder Louisa Lytton.
But insiders fear storylines have gone off the boil. And the show has not been helped by the departure of long-running stars including Trudie Goodwin, whose final scenes were shown in March.
A TV insider said: “We have a big responsibility to make sure ITV primetime stays fresh.
“As part of this we are looking at taking The Bill down to one episode a week.
“ITV are getting a bit bored of The Bill and are keen to try out new dramas at 8pm.”
ITV have recently launched a revamped Jane Austen season and have commissioned a new drama, Rock Rivals, by the makers of Footballers Wives.
The news comes as BBC1’s EastEnders is set to go to five episodes a week to rival Corrie and Emmerdale.

Louisa Lytton to revive The Bill's fortunes? Yeah like that'll help, putting someone fresh out of school in a WPC's uniform. Whilst not knowing anything about police recruitment myself, didn't Louisa only turn 18 in February?

I don't know anything about the police force but maybe she's on probation period. Even still, she only looks about 14.

True enough, but I can't see ITV finding something to put on other football, that would attract five million viewers
Plus there is the contract between Talkback and ITV to take into consideration.
I think it's good in a respect that there are two hour-long episodes, one day after the other. If you have a dramatic but complex storyline, it's fresher in the memory the next day than it would be the next week I think.
Also bear in mind that Emmerdale is on for 3 hours a week, and Coro 2.5 hours a week. Although The Bill is not general regarded as a soap, it does take a serial format.
Well that's my tuppence-worth anyway

I was surprised to read that article about The Bill being cut down to 1 episode a week. Usually ITV increase their soaps/dramas not cut them back!
1 hour a week for The Bill is enough IMO as 2 hours can be difficult to keep up with when you watch other programmes.
