Well they often ask an easy question in these phone in things to make sure the caller gets it right (unless they are thick)

They probably had memories of The Vault in the back of their minds, how many times did the jackpot roll over last year, for about 10 weeks?!

more than that - it rolled over £100 000 every week, until it eventually got to £1 000 000, where I believe they stopped. It stayed at 1million for ages IIRC.

Indeed. It's been gone for a while...any date of Mel's/Gabby's return?

I'm 99% certain it's been axed. Shame, great format - though too many contestants last year (9 up from 8 up from 7). Also, slightly unfair at the end as the viewer game was far easier than the studio endgame.

As for The Big Call - dipped out at the end for Big Brother, but were the celebs really neccessary?

I think it's quite ironic the way that the first time we get a show where someone could win the lottery, it's on ITV1, opposite a game show on BBC1 which often has nothing to do with the lottery.

There was talk of the rights to the lottery draws coming up for renewal soon and ITV possibly being interested now that advertising rules have been relaxed, this could be the perfect format

It's also the first time in years that there has been a caption on ITV telling you what the lottery result is!

which gave the show a massive jackpot and made people want to watch.

Another 'quick-thinking' embarrassment for ITV in my opinion. Shoddy small revamped Blankety Blank style set. Useless celebs again - "ooh look its that woman who played Madge in Neighbours and Jenni '150 is the highest score on a dartboard Shocked ' Faulkner" (totally unnecessary) and a crap host! Keep Foxy on the radio.

If they are going to do a game/quiz show then at least put some effort into it! Rolling Eyes Might as well have replaced it with a repeat of Family Fortunes.

I don't think he does radio anymore; he left Hit40UK about a year ago, and Capital a couple of months ago so that he could spend more time with his kids, making way for Richard Bacon.

Well this is exactly what I hate. Former well-known Celebs who want to spend more time with their kids etc or take a break from TV for a few years/months but still want to be in the spotlight (earn money etc) so end up on shoddy shows like this or reality TV! Mad Its cheap and underrated. Either this or you get one-timers like Paul Burrell and the cheeky girls filling the gaps! Rolling Eyes

Also -
Why is the prize money won only an estimate. If someone bothers to look at Page 556 on Ceefax around an hour after the draw, you will see that the prize money for each of the 4,5,5+ and 6 balls will be on there.

The time between the draw and the climax of The Big Call is more than an hour and a quarter.
A good on screen device would be to have all the 100,000 individual combinations scrolling across the screen during the show, and highlighting each one that matches with the 6 lottery numbers.

I was distinctly unimpressed. ITV could have done so much better. And why Neil Fox?! He's bloody awful! Couldn't believe the way they were trying to build the "suspense" at the end, when there clearly was none. The questions were so easy, a three year old could have answered them.

I thought Julian Clary on the lottery was bad.....but this....?!?! Shocked
