The Apprentice producers missed candidate's conviction
Controversy as it emerges former commando Christopher Farrell has weapons conviction and is currently on bail for alleged fraud
The Apprentice has run into controversy before the first episode of the latest series has even aired after it has emerged that one of Lord Sugar's contestants, ex-Royal Marine commando turned mortgage broker Christopher Farrell, is currently on bail for alleged fraud and has a previous weapons conviction.
The Apprentice producers missed candidate's conviction
Is that a problem? This kind of show thrives on publicity like this.
Well as long as the news doesn't come out with less than a week before the launch of the new series they should be fine with most people missing it and therefore avoiding any contraversey. If it was to come out with, say, six days remaining before the launch, it would probably have to entail numerous producers being wheeled out in front of the press to apologise, state how worthy the candidate was, hint how well / badly they've done, and reminding everyone when the programme is airing in order to allow the general public to make their own minds up rather than believing what they read in the press.

Very poor framing on the ECP tonight - no chance of lip-reading...
The "You're Fired" show is very different without Adrian Chiles - and much better.
Dara was brilliant - utterly relentless in his scathing attacks on the rejected candidate (who was a total knob).
It was a little odd that there was no mention (unless I missed it) of this being Dara's first time at the reigns; and even he mentioned things like "here's our regular feature on the one that got away", as if he'd always been the host.
Just goes to show - yet again - that most things Chiles seemed to be very good on were really more about the winning format than his ability, spontaneity or charm.

Should have stayed where you were, old bean.
Dara did say at the beginning of the programme that it was his first day in a new job too. I think its good that he has put his own spin on the programme rather than try and replicate what Chiles had done previously, Chiles was very successful with the programme and I think if Dara had tried to copy this, the programme would have lost it's a way a fair bit.
He got the project leader role completely wrong, but I warmed a lot to him during You're Fired, and think maybe Stuart "The Brand" whatever should have gone instead.
Was it me or was one of them trying to do a Gordon Brown impersonation at one point in the actual episode - glum face, red tie, droaning on about something?
