Not terribly impressive.
what an understatment.
nothing but a waste of bandwith.

Not even my Galic friends watch this, and they speak the language Rolling Eyes

I have to disagree. Even though it's only an hours broadcast a day, its important that television is doing its bit to keep Gaelic culture alive. If you don't want to watch TeleG, don't watch it, but if someone who wants to choose to watch Gaelic television, it's up to them. With so few speakers, Gaelic may be gone forever, make the most of it while you can.

Back to ABC1.....Hearing Paul Coia promote ABC1 before the launch, doesn't that bring you back to when he was promoting Channel 4 before it went on air?

Whilst i do agree the Gaelic Language needs to be preserved I am of the belief that it should be broadcasting fully on d-sat or d-cab and not taking up valuable space on DTT (Even if it is for only an hour a day).

I myself don't personaly speak the language but I do agree that it should be preserved.

To answer the earlier question -

ABC1 will be on Mutliplex A, home to Five, QVC, Bidup.TV and the Top Up TV clan.

Caught an advert for ABC1 on ITV1 last night - not as flash as the promo on the channel itself, just some bloke talking about TV with a big personality.

It was Ray Winstone in the promo I think. I seem to remember I was looking at the first week's schedule when the advert came on TV.

OK guys - factoid one. ABC1 will be on Channel 15 and on Freeview. It will NOT be on TopUpTv even though it's on SDN. ABC1/Daytime was always envisaged as a Free-To-Air channel and is being allowed onto Freeview because of it. There was no talk of Ideal World possibly becoming a TUTV channel was there? Just because this one actually could have some decent output doesn't mean it's going to go to the TUTV elite.

Also ITV3 will launch in November also - possibly as a timeshare with More4, though I don't know what LCN number. 35 is the lowest available one isn't it? More4 will be on 24 come January. Perhaps Price-Drop will disappear sooner than we think.

I just looked on the Price-Drop.tv website look at the page (link at bottom of page) It doesn't say anything about it closing read it!!!!

Finally, we have some EPG data on abc1.
In the 'next' space it says at 6am its 'Unhappily ever after' until 6:30.

EDIT: They now also have added "abc1 launches monday 27th september' on the EPG before 'Unhappily Ever After'.

It would be great to see Ellen and Moonlighting again, Nurses and Empty Nest were linked with The Golden Girls, let's hope that pops up on there soon.

Shame the channel doesn't run from 1800 instead, it looks ten times better then FTN.

Empty Nest was an absolute catastrophe when it launched as a sequel.

The whole channel seems to be more about expanding the ABC brand than having an outlet to show decent programming.

From what's being played out just now on ABC1 it doesn't seem all that bad. Everything appears to be a sitcom on this channel.

On the Pres side it doesn't look to bad. Not sure what ABC in the US looks like but this is okay.

I'm looking forward to seeing it, just a shame it's on a timeshare. Rid of these shopping channels I think is what's needed.

Why was it called ABC1 and not something like ABC:UK?

No doubt world domination... I mean UK Domination with the hope of there being ABC2/3 etc.

Or it could be just that UK Channels have a trend of starting with their name followed by a number.

BBC 1/2/3/4

ITV 1/2/3

C4.... well E4/ T4 etc.

You see were I'm going with this?
