This is the most interesting thing he has done for years.
Yes, the other being that impression of Trevor McDonald on Tiswas.
Still, he does a lot for Comic Relief, I admire him for that.
Oh dear, I think Lenny Len's lost it.
What do you mean? 'He already did 10 years ago'?

I noticed when they were showing the clips promoting Vernon Kay on the show, they obscured Paul O'Grady's face when he was shown in the clips when Vernon appeared on his show.

Yes, thats because we must understand The 5 O'Clock Show is NOT anything like The Paul O'Grady Show.

I do think that Vernon Kay has been the best host so far, and I believe the only one who's tied up with a deal for another channel, shortly followed by Stephen Mulhern, I.e the ones who present for a living. It's a good job that Stephen was brought on for the week with Kimberly, nothing against her, or any of the others who have done it, but they just haven't been that great.
The surprising ones for me have been Lenny Henry and Denise & Melanie where I didn't think they lived up to their potentials.

I hope C4 didn't do anything stupid and sign a two-year deal or something stupid for this as the ratings have been even worse than Iron Chef - barely above 500,000 - certainly nowhere near enough to warrant a second series.
So it's either back to Come Dine with Me all year round (and I'd rather half an hour of CDWM at 5.30pm than two and a half hours at 1pm) or really back to the drawing board as far as the chat shows are concerned. Really the 5pm show didn't stand much chance as it was with it's rotating list of hosts - but making it a Paul O'Grady clone pretty much killed it off. I'm sure with the right host and the right format a live show at 5pm can still work for C4 - but it's got to be original with the host able to stamp their own identity on it - and although they may have axed Paul O'Grady to save costs, if they want to make money they need to spend money.
How ever much cheaper the 5 o'clock Show is with ratings down by around two thirds it surely can't be making more money for the channel than the POG show did.

Yes, talk about flogging a show to within an inch of it's life. 2.5 hours of Come Dine With Me x 6 days a week.

The problem is this show is not 'original' anymore. The reason the Paul O'Grady Show worked was because Paul worked with the audience as opposed to for the audience - which is a key reason as to why the 5 O'Clock Show is too formulaic and over-rehearsed. It's trying to do something that's been done before 10x better.
Having guest presenters for this type of show is like having the supply teachers in at school - nobody really knows what they're doing but they've got a routine and work to carry out.
Then again, in my opinion this format has become too silly and repetitive anyway (certainly the games) and Paul's show did the same and I think he knew it, so it's interesting to know how much input he actually has with OlgaTV.
