Didn't some versions of the Tango ads have a phone number at the end? IIRC, there was no voiceover asking the viewer to phone the number it just appeared at the end of the ad with no information about what it was for. Anyone who phoned it won some kind of prize.



Wow. I thought I remembered the first Asda 'bum slap' adverts. I obviously don't though as I wasn't born in the 70s. Was the bum slap and music dropped for a while and brought back in the late 80s/ early 90s or something?

At least a few past Tango campaigns have been a bit controversial -- I remember one from circa 2000(?) showing a chubby lad having everything he says shouted back at him through mini megaphones - followed by voiceover offering said devices to viewers, to "join in the fun" which didn't go down too well, due to the bullying concerns which followed!

IIRC it was replaced thereafter by a mocking ad playing off the campaign being axed, with a deliberately inoffensive tagline like "Drink Tango - It's Nice" or thereabouts...
