This wasn't bad I thought! Very Whose Line, especially with Paul Merton doing a bit as well. Some clever stuff, although bits of it were very ITV. I can imagine what Whose Line would have been like had it gone out on that channel: "THESE FOUR CONTESTANTS ARE ABOUT TO PLAY SOME GAMES, BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IN THEM! IT'S THE SCARIEST SHOW ON TELEVISION - RYAN STYLES, JOSIE LAWRENCE, TONY SLATTERY AND JOHN SESSIONS ARE ABOUT TO PLAAAAAAAY WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY!" *glitzy title sequence with loads of applause as they all run into the studio*

But a fun show, seems odd for late night Saturday ITV1 but a refreshing change from reality shows.

... until I heard the name "Fern Britton". Why, ITV, just why?

What on earth has that bland daytime nobody to do with comedy?

She thinks she is a comedian and unfortunatly so do the bods at ITV...I remember her from the TVS days when she co-presented with Fred Dinage, she was totally different and very shy really, look on you tube etc

Well not quite late night at 9pm - I do feel though it would fit better at 10pm.

From what I saw of it it was pretty good, though I'm not convinced 9pm Saturday night ITV1 is the right home for it - be interesting to see the ratings for it.

Perhaps an hour is too long too - sounds like it be better suited to a pacier 30 minute slot. As it stands though I think it would be a good addition to have someone from the audience each week involved too, either on the same level as the "celebs" or in a special audience feature (where perhaps the celebs are the scripted characters).

I thought it was a very good show, and I was very entertained by Fern's performance.

Nevertheless, when Whose Line went to the US, it spun off to a show called Drew Carey's Green Screen Show consisting of improvisation but on a set covered in green. With chroma-key, it was therefore possible to make it look like they would be in an office or on a ship etc. Unfortunately, I feel too much thought on an improv show spoils it, including sets and costumes etc (Just my opinion.. nevertheless Green Screen Show was short lived)

Despite this, tonight's show worked, as it was nice to see a celebrity who's has little, if not none, improv experience being thrown into a scene, making a change to seeing Ryan Stiles "doing his job".

P.s. The accent on that Aussie DJ wasn't pleasent to listen to.

The original Network Ten/Working Dog version is in it's second or third series here in Australia. What time is it on?

And someone whose claim to fame is working on "This Morning" is what, exactly?

Fern is also a former in-vision continuity announcer, so is automatically worthy of respect on this forum.

What's the problem with Fern? She outshone both the comedy actors on there who clearly can't be funny without a script.

I've no idea who the Aussie guy was.

I think every week they will have one non-comedian on the show

Next week they've got Hamish Blake, Clive Anderson, Sally Lindsay and Michael McIntyre

I also watched this programme and was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a poor-man's WLIIA!

The big studio, the presenters and the guests - the whole thing worked and was quite refreshing to see something new and not 'itv1-esque' on itv1! I think itv1 need to take risks with formats that don't necessarily scream itv1 at the schedules! Can't wait to see how TSDOACG with Billie Piper rates on it's itv1 airing!

As you can see, there's a pretty clear trend there - it doesn't really need a lead-in audience at all, it's a ratings juggernaught on its own.
