Hang on, IBA Engineering Announcements going out in the Schools interlude? I hadn't realised it went out during programme contractor time, I thought it always went out during the Trade Test sequences that the IBA transmitted themselves rather than via the programme companies?

Agreed. This is should be celebrated on the day Thames was launched. Not some random day on the calendar.

I imagine it's because several ITV companies would begin broadcasting on the same day, so it's easier to do this on any given day rather than the day they begin broadcasting. Not really sure why it matters, it's just a fun tweet-along.

Good for Doctor Who. Unfortunately, there are people who don't care for Doctor Who, like myself, and would find something like Thames Day much more interesting. I'm sure there's room for both on the same day.

The implication from that document is that the companies are meant to record the Engineering Information for later playback. Perhaps the arrangement changed later?

Wasn't it the case where the ITV regions would put out a locally generated caption during the interlude- so the engineering information wouldn't have gone out on air.

I read it as being that Engineering Announcements would go out during the interlude. I can't see any need to record them locally at each region.

Maybe so they could play them out locally if there was a fault with them getting the feed from the IBA?

The only significance to broadcasting of Nov 23rd, is 1978, when the BBC rearranged their services on the LW and MW bands ?
