One other aspect I'm curious about tonight is who's making it? It was a Ginger production originally so that presumably means its an STV format now. Evans had a TV production company a few years ago (UMTV?) but that's not made anything for ages

With Will involved it might be a Monkey production. STV probably have no interest in the format anymore so it may well be Evans and the rest have just set up a company to make this one show under the auspices of Monkey or somewhere.

One thing about the original TFI I used to love was the Late Night Viewers' Spot they did in the repeat. This was a short sequence just before part three that only appeared in the repeat as a special treat for viewers who watched that, and they never mentioned it at 6pm or in the billings, it was like a little secret. Certainly I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't been out at 6pm and watching the repeat instead the first week they did it. It ran for about six months, usually involving some rude and silly sketch or behind the scenes bit of business, before, as they announced on air, they'd run out of ideas and were bored with making it so that was the end of it. Happened around the same time the whole show was running out of steam, really.

The first year of TFI was fantastic for things like that, they had so many ideas and so much enthusiasm. In the first series they were billed to do a complation on Good Friday and it was billed as such everywhere but during the week Evans thought of a few things he'd like to do and couldn't wait until the following week so they ended up doing an unscheduled live show from his house. Even if it was planned all along it seemed incredibly exciting.

After the first year, though, coinciding with his depature from Radio 1, it totally ran out of steam and I'd long since defected to Robot Wars by the time it ended. The last two years or so were useless. No idea what this one will be like but I like Evans a lot now so I hope it's good.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show in the 90's and can't wait for tonight's edition. I also enjoy Chris Evans a lot more nowadays. It'll be interesting to see what things they have up their sleeves. The 9pm live slot seems like a nice slot to put it into and feel that it could do well.

His views on the current state of tv on last week's Sunday Brunch were interesting if anybody wishes to catch up.

It's a co-production between Monkey Kingdom, Olga TV (Paul O'Grady's company, which TFI's previous line producer now runs) and a company Chris set up especially. I guess he got the rights back at some point as I've seen no indication of STV's involvement.

I was a big fan of Chris's work in the 90s on Radio 1, Don't Forget Your Toothbrush and TFI.

Not a fan of him presenting The One Show or Radio 2 as he's mellowed with age, however I'm looking forward to this.

Does anyone know where it will be coming from? The ticket shout out only says central London

Break bumpers are being used at the moment to help promote the show. Also STV could still own the format but could licence it out, ie to Monkey Kingdom

Who currently owns the rights to the "Don't Forget Your Toothbrush" format? I seem to recall reading in one of the papers Chris Evans sold it to the BBC in 1996, and Ray Cokes was being lined up to host a rebooted primetime BBC One version of the show.

This company sells the format , though that doesn't mean they necessarily own it, they probably just sell it on behalf of Ginger/STV

They would have sold the rights to make a version to the BBC rather than ownership of the format

There's a periscope session giving a first view of the new studio being advertised on Channel 4's Twitter of anybody wants to grab some screenshots.

It's a replica of the original orange set... if a bit smaller and minus the window because of course they're in a different studio now. It makes me wonder why they're putting up all this effort just for a one off.... pilot for another series a la Fifteen to One??

I'd say Channel 4 would LOVE a series to happen. Chris would maybe be the deciding factor. Oh and whether tonight shows potential or goes down like a lead baloon. They'll have to remember they're in 2015 for starters. Could be great could be a disaster.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is being considered a back door pilot, and if the ratings are good enough for tonight's show, perhaps the powers that be at Channel 4 might commission a full series for the autumn TV season. All this talk of it being a one-off 20th anniversary special is probably a smokescreen, especially when the actual anniversary is several months away.
