Was watching Game Network this afternoon, and at around 15:30 they went into the next programme using an “Independent Television Programmes for Schools and Colleges” countdown, complete with music. “Game Network UK” was written under the countdown, as the name of the programme.

A few minutes later a (slightly modified) Testcard F appeared - The clown and blackboard were there, but the girl was replaced by a Game Network presenter.

Interesting, if somewhat bizzare to see a classic countdown/testcard back on TV!

I avoid it when all that crap is on. There is however a (fairly decent) gaming show on Saturday afternoons, but that's about all thats left.

Other than that Game Network is a very strange operation these days. Despite the UK and Italian feeds showing different programmes, they show the same adverts, so you get Italian adverts. Great idea!

The countdown was inbetween LiveWire and Reloaded.

Not sure how the Sunday repeats work anymore, but they always used to be a week behind so you might see it this Sunday. Look for LiveWire and Reloaded on the EPG.

There's a heavy bias towards Rainbow Six and XBox Live on that channel! Still, it's that or *shudder* Gamezville!

Maybe they were doing some kind of Look Around You-esque spoof?

You've forgoten Bravo's "When games attack" and "Gamer.tv" which own all of Game Network's programing completely.

But why on a games channel? I'm wondering if they've nicked either my own or Dave J's recon of the clock and keyed on their own bits, or if they did it themselves. (Maybe they even nicked the one off the LAY DVD!)

It is very possible that they used Dave's clock, as the version on Andrew Wiseman's site allows you to put your own programme title into it. Play it full screen, and send it to the TV Out, hey presto! And it's got the music with it too I seem to remember.

Television channels have been known to nick things from websites, as in the Advert channel nicking TV Ark clips and blatantly running them through EO Video or playing them full screen, instead of getting copies of the ads from the relevant companies.

I havn't got Sky, so I suppose I'll never know unless somebody posts a full frame size (720 x 576 / 1024 x 576) Realplayer file (hint hint!) here to help work it out.

That music (Handelian Harp) isn't the correct edit. Blame me for that! When I sent the music to Rory Clark there were no off-air recordings available for reference. So I did the edit how I thought it would have been. Later a recording turned up - and I'd got it wrong.

True true, but then I remember Gamesmaster owning everything, back in the day

I can't imagine them doing so really - their microphones aren't working most of the time, and they never seem to know when an ad break is coming. Still, I suppose it was a nice surprise to those who saw it!
