Test idents for the ITV 1989

An interesting thing has appeared on YT a few months back, I only come across this yesterday.

Lets see if we can be grown up over this interesting idea.

Looks fake to be honest, and if it isn't well its naff anyway since the animation is crap even for 1989.

You'd expect the animation to not be as polished if it's done as a test. No point spending money on something that might not get on air

It looks like it was made in the 2000s to be honest, since the way the regional logo animates on to the screen looks like a modern day animation.

Doesn't look typical of that era to me. Feels like a mock. You had Paintbox, Harry, Encore or Mirage in high-end finishing suites then, or Kaleidoscope. That treatment looks a bit unusual for that era of kit.

I think I'll sit this one out...

What exactly is there to discuss? It's either an early 'rough cut' or a mock.

If its a rough cut of an early idea, its a much better idea, than what was used.

Gotta be fake. The V is different to the final version, and if they had time to change LWT's, they should have been able to correct Anglia's and Granada's, which were rejected for having mistakes, and reworked TVS's, which was unrecognisable and omitted their flower symbol (or whatever that thing was supposed to be).

The way the T and V come in is very abrupt.

Shall we ask CWilliams for his input, he knows all about this sort of stuff. ...or maybe not.
