I agree. With the news of Gabby's departure i was hoping they'd take the opportunity to maybe look at the show and do away with the TOTP format with dancing BBC news readers & soap stars thrown in here and there. But it seems not. This years highlights are -again!- singing and dancing news readers & soap stars. *yawns*. It works though so i suppose that's all that really matters.

Also Re: CIN. i was surprised Comic Relief didn't cash in on the trendy wristband phenomenon this year. CIN have though..you can buy your yellow & red hooped wristbands from Boots.

I can see it all now, Cotton will be gushing allover the musical stars, Kaplinsky will be generally annoying and Wogan will ignore both of them and do his usual, what camera am I on?, act that he's done every CiN for the past 300 years!

His five show that was on about two years ago didn't go down too well. Although that was with Gaby Roslin...

It went down well with those who watched it.... unfortunately not enough people watched it. Same with his other foray into daytime TV - Wogans Web

Oh dear! Kaplinsky AND the Fearne on one show. Rolling Eyes I'm glad Gaby 'the fake' Roslin's gone though - about time!

Not being funny but I thought Wogan had his day with CIN judging by last year's standards. I'm sure it wasn't just him but it seemed a right bodge job! I'm not saying I dislike Wogan though.

I have to agree that CIN has become some sort of cheap musical extravaganza with celebrity input - because its for chariidee! I think the format needs to change and a revamped set and graphics wouldn't go a miss either. The red straps and Pudsey crawling across the screen every so often really needs a fresh look.

Anyway, looking forward to Terry's new show if it goes ahead.

I remember the days when CIN was 2 or 3 minute studio based continuity device wrapped around the normal Friday night BBC One schedule.

Slowly towards the mid 80's special editions of normal programmes appeared (a live edition of Blankety Blank for one - including the sight of Peter Powell nearly knocking himself out when he tripped running onto the set) and then it slowly morphed into the uninspiring 9 hour song and dance routine it's become now.

Hmm....How come this news has gone unnoticed? Confused 'Wogan' was a fairly high profile show, i would've thought it's return would be quite a big thing.

Incidently: Terry's new 'Children In Need' co-hosts have been named. They are Natasha Kaplinsky & Fearne Cotton Rolling Eyes

Wasn't Sharon Osbourne doing it as well? I'm sure I heard her name. It's strange that Gaby isn't doing it, she must have hosted for the past ten years or so! Does anyone know what she's doing at the moment?

The only thing I have seen her on recently is adverts for "American Life" insurance. I mean, would you trust a company called "American Life"?

Going OT slightly but staying on the subject of chat shows. Learning nothing at all from the Graham Norton fiasco the BBC are reportedly shedding out a fortune on giving Davina McCall a prime time chat show. The deal will apparently make her the highest paid woman on TV. A pilot of "Midweek McCall" is being filmed this week with guests Gordan Ramsy, Charlotte Church & Paul O'Grady.

They did, of sorts. How about the Make Poverty History bands which started the whole craze off?

Wogan's Web was class!!! Don't know why it was axed after just one series? Very funny programme.

It would be great to see Terry Wogan back presenting a chat show. Although he has been on television since 'Wogan' was axed, he has been on TV far too little over the past 10 years or so. The occasional appearance on Aunties Bloomers, commentating on the Eurovision Song Contest and other random appearances have been few and far between. Although he has presented 'Do The Right Thing', 'The Terry and Gaby Show', 'Wogan's Web' and 'Children In Need', these appearances have been spread out more than margarine on toast.

He really needs to be back in a primetime show where viewers see him regularly, doing what he does best. And Wogan certainly fits the bill. Although a 'Blankety Blank' revival with Terry Wogan wouldn't go amiss either!

We all knew bloody Kaplinsky would get it - but I can't believe they've thrown in Fearne Cotton as well!

Children in Need has been awful the last few years - just basically a repeat of the efforts from last years with dancing newsreaders, singing EastEnders and musical Corries!

I was thinking earlier when I saw an ad for "Free 3D glasses with tomorrows Daily Mirror" that CiN needs to get it's gimmicks back they had in the 90s such as Scratch and Sniff - and I'm sure they did the 3D glasses as well!
