I never get why channels dont use the technical faults to their advances, such as showing trailers. Until they can get them back.

Because chucking a short programme in and getting it to air takes a lot less effort than playing loads of trails. The filler programme can be put on and played while the director and team concentrates on getting the main programme back again.

Often the filler programme will be loaded and readied before live programmes start

Although on this occastion we saw them spooling through the VT clock until it started! Laughing

They could easily have a selection of trailer ready that run, and cut the reel of at the end of a trailer when the fault is fixed.

We did indeed, but by the time I hit the Snap button to capture it, it was gone.

It would be a lot of work to keep something like that up to date, when breakdowns that last longer than 30" are very rare.

Shane Richie will be the main host for the evening

No mention at all of Terry & Gabby in the article...

If that's true, then what the hell are the BBC thinking? Terry and Gabby make CIN what it is and the show would be ruined without them. Also, why oh why did they have to chose Shane Ritchie? He's a soap star (and not that good a soap star tbh), not a Television Presenter. I just think he lacks the charisma a good presenter needs.

Ok, now, Flame. Razz

I wonder if that is some kind of mistake, possibly missing "performing the charity single and Terry and Gabby..."

I'm sure the BBC press site would say if Shane was presenting but it only mentions Terry and Gaby as the presenters.

He has. Quiz shows like Strike it Rich and those awful Daz adverts. By the way, he's excellent on EastEnders and has improved it IMO.

And since when has Gaby Roslin been charismatic?!

But with trailers they'd have to stop what they were doing every 30 seconds and make sure the next one starts OK. Running a series of trails is quite a complex thing to do, and if the fault is because your automation is ****ed you couldn't do it at all.

With a tape they can just chuck it in, press play, cut it to air and leave it running.

I'm sure Ted Robbins hosted vhain letters when it came back in the 90's at 9.25.

It was interesting seeing the fault, i was flipping and noticed russell grant, as i immediately said, they've had a breakdown. They had one near to the beginning of the run.

Its a shame the figures are so low, as the show is now on form. Replacing Johnny Ball with Danny Baker was a great decision (nothing against johnny ball), getting rid of danny mccall and that live loot idea. They've even started little regular spots with spots on tv & film, then cookery items, and the barefoot doctor. And you always learn something new from Danny's questions.

I loved it today when Terry shouted to Danny, "You make up all the questions, dont you", in which he replied "Yeah, what do you we have? Viewers!?".

Please if anyone knows anyone who is one of the BARB people, can they please get them to watch this show, they may even enjoy it!

BTW. How do people become a representitive of the public with BARB (i.e. to have the box that records the shows that they watch that they translate into a certain number of viewers?)

How many people do they have recording this? And shouldn't they have more to gain a better representative. At the moment, just because people who have the boxes aren't watching, channels and programmes get axed, even though they may have millions of viewers.

And does anyone know what Terry & Gaby are doing on friday? WIll they do the live five show as well as children in need?

It is a shame that such a good show gets such a low amount of figures, it really does deserve more, as they do put a lot of effort into it. You can see that the show has changed since it came on in May, ie getting rid of McCall, Johnny Ball, the original set and the titles too. Plus Danny Baker has been an excellent replacement for Ball, as he does have a very good sense of humour, and does like to take the p*ss out of ITV at times, though we have had mentions of The 6 O'Clock Show from time to time. You can tell that Wogan has settled down and you can tell that Gaby isn't as loud as she was. I have to say that the other week that Richard Whiteley was a very good replacement while Terry was on his break, if Terry goes off again, then I wouldn't mind Whiteley coming back. Though considering it gets low ratings they seem to get some good guests and they've managed to get sponorship too, but only by National Lottery Daily Play, but I guess that means something.

But I think Five commissioned about 200 episodes and we're currently at about 120 or so, so we might have it until early next year, but we have to see how long they have off over Christmas. But I do hope that Five recommissions this superb show, but this time not for 200 episodes, maybe 50 or something would be more suitable.

Indeed, always entertaining and always good value for money.

Worth mentioning that he has an excellent breakfast show on BBC London
