Can somebody tell me if all the World Idol countries are doing it the same way-eg programme on Christmas Day, results A WEEK later on New Year's Day, and if so, what's the point of that these days, with modern global communications?

I think it is a massive simulcast like the eurovision song contest is, although don't know if every country is using the same methods of voting, i expect it will be net, phone or sms for us brits.

Isn't the idea that the show will go out on the networks on christmas day at the same time, so whatever time we show it, each country will show it at that time in their time zone, on the network that airs the show normally.
Ant & Dec have been said to have been chosen out of all hosts to host world idol. It will be a massive boost for Ant & Dec's profiles around the world especially in the US, where Saturday Night Takeaway is being piloted in the new year. I expect they keep the same set, and pre record it, either the week previous of the final, or at the start of christmas week.
I believe they are going to record it as live, as a normal pop idol show would be. I bet we will have Stars in Their Eyes style clips before each performer, as usually we know the performer, but we only know WIll & Kelly Clarkson in this country.
On local radio stations and some websites, it's saying that American's will be voting for Kelly Clarkson to win, obviously they don't know that like Eurovision, the country's cannot vote for their own representative. So effectively, whoever the American's vote for will win.
The voting methods will be the usual voting methods for the country. The results will then be collected from all countries and collected together.
The problem will be the results show. It would be unfair to let one country know before another, so they have a problem with scheduling, so that it can go live in every country at the same time. SO if we schedule it too early in the evening it will be too early for american's, but if we schedule it too late, it will be too late for Australia (are they actually in it?).
I think there are more Christmas TV guides in tomorrow's Sunday papers, so hopefully these may shed more light on what is to be shown over the holidays as I think the listings have been updated since they were printed in Thursday's newspapers.
The great news is though the complete confirmed listings will be available on DigiGuide from next weekend and the Christmas double issue's of TV Times & Radio Times will be released on Tuesday 9th December, according to the Radio Times website.
Ive noticed that listings for 6-12 December went on sale today, 3 days earlier than usual. Then listings for 13-19 will go on sale on Thursday, with the double issue of Xmas/New Year listings on sale from Tuesday 9th December I think.
Inside Soap is on sale this Tuesday, with a double issue with listings for 6th-19th December.
Yes I think the Sunday Papers will have an updated version of the Christmas Listings tommorow.
Yes its exactly the same as what happened last year.
Listings for the 6th-12th come out 3 days early (7 days before they start) on the 29th Nov
Listings for the 13th-19th come out 5 days early (9 days before they start) on the 4th Dec
Listings for the 20th-2nd come out 7 days early (11 days before they start) on the 9th Dec.
Then also just like last year, my local branch of a popular high street newsagents only had the 6th-12th Dec issue on display today. I wonder how many people got home and realised they had the wrong issue for this week!. To get around this problem notice how all listings mags have the dates written in very large writing at the top
I noticed in the updated listings in todays Sunday papers, ITV1 *are* showing a Bond film after the Queens Speech.
I am disapointed there were no regional variations though, as usual we got listings for the London region, I want to know what progs my local region, HTV, are showing over the Christmas period.
Anyone know when the Bo' Selecta christmas specials are on? I heard they were supposed to be on Boxing day and January 2nd, but haven't seen them in the listings so far.
