Does anybody know of a website or link to find the unofficial early terrestrial xmas listings.
All I have to say at this point is . . .
For Christ's Sake . . . STOP CALLING IT XMAS!
It's called
Christmas,
NOT Xmas, which makes the whole thing sound like the celebration of
an unpleasant itchy skin disorder! It's the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, not Jesus X!
I don't call it Christmas because that's religious. For me, 'Xmas', 'Crimbleton', 'Christmas' or 'Holiday' is an excuse to give and receive presents. I don't celebrate it because of a man that died ages ago who may even not have existed.
Usually BBC2 doesn't show any Learning Zone programmes over the Christmas fortnight. I really hope they don't show it this Christmas as I think it would be very poor scheduling if they do. BBC2 shown during the Christmas 2001 fortnight a nightly season of classic film noir thrillers and old B horror movies. I hope they do something like this again this Christmas. The Learning Zone is on far too much as well. On Sunday's it starts at 2am. I think it should start at 2am every night instead of 12.30pm. That way BBC2 could offer more quality by showing a late night movie everynight offering much more choice for the viewers.
They are gonna change it in Janurary, so it starts at 2 most morings and 1 on a Tuesday. But they want to do it over the xmas period, which is silly, cause who wants to learn at xmas? I wanted to tape the Ceefax music too! There was a really good CD added sometime during the summer that I wanted to get in full, loads of interesting Trip Hop tunes on it.

People who say "don't call it xmas" are fooling themselves. It's something the church invented to drag pagans into the fold. The bible doesn't give a date for Christ's birth, like it does with his death. There really is no reason to celebrate it at all. X-mas is a much more acurate name for it!

I knew they were changing it, but I didn't know that they were shortening it, though I heard that the Open University wanted to stop all of their programmes with the BBC and that they wanted to ditch their TV shows all together, so this will probably have an effect considering that OU dominates it from 12.30am onwards for about an hour or two. Though it should really stop for 2 weeks, ie at Christmas and New Year, but it would be silly if it's going to continue through, plus when it comes to this period BBC Two really likes to be on until 3am or 4am most nights showing films and I Love programmes. Though this move doesn't suprise me at all, it is obvious that they want to reduce the amount of Ceefax which goes out, but then in a few years Ceefax will disappear all together.
Plus if you want to see Ceefax watch a bit of the BBC1 Nations at 1am Tuesday-Thursday mornings, a rarity if it would be on in England.
Just because it makes interesting reading, here's Christmas 2001's schedule (don't have last years).

Absloutely, I agree, doesn't "Xmas" look awful?
I suppose it derives from "X" being a "cris-cross", so if you drop the "cross" - "cris-mass" (or "Xmas" sounds a bit like "Chritmas".

I do hope that ITV give the Bond films a rest over Christmas this year.
And to think we used to complain that ITV showed a Bond film every bank holiday.
If only that was still the case...
Anyone have details of when News at Ten ends. Personally, I think it should go a week or so before Christmas, with flexible bulletins over the festive period and the new 10.30pm bulletin launching a week after new year, giving ITV plenty of chances to get out their two-hour dramas/films before the slot is restricted to 90 minutes.

Nah, it's not likely to go that quickly. The 10.30pm bulletin is likely to coincide with a new look to ITV News and also ITV need to produce a raft of new programming to fill the 9-10.30pm slot. I expect it will be at least a few months into the new year.
