Who's presenting Breakfast and the News on BBC1 on Christmas Day?
:-(

What's the bet that "Breakfast" on Christmas morning-which is a terrible decision anyway, and deserves to have a zero rating (not in the TV sense either, but a "real" zero rating-meaning no viewers AT ALL!) is as normal as possible, with no festiveness, normal set, normal titles etc?

Well this is what Digiguide says of Breakfast on Christmas Day, which looks like a normal days programme. But how likely is that ? Business News and Regional News & Travel on Christmas Day ???

ITV News is "the latest news, Weather with Sian Lloyd"

I think yet again the BBC are resorting to yet more cheap scheduling over Christmas with their Breakfast schedule.
I remember not too long ago that Christmas was meant to offer something completely different in the daily schedules, but if this Breakfast schedule has anything to go by, it may as well be a normal run of the mill morning schedule.
The BBC need to re-think their ideas for the holiday schedules in future, because this Breakfast schedule is pointless; a waste of 3 hours where they could show something much more festive I'm sure. Even an early morning Disney film season would have been better and at least that would have offered something different for the viewers.

The listings description for Breakfast seems to be the same everyday, with all the times for the various bits of the programme. Of course, there is no regional news on Saturday or Sunday. Likewise on Christmas Day, in fact, on the BBC their is no regional news on Christmas Day I don`t think, unless this year is different.

Since markets and businesses across the world are shut on Christmas day there hardly seems any worth in business news...I think you'll find that'll update in a few days to a shorter version of Breakfast, covering news with a distinct Christmassy feel.

I don't see what's wrong with having Breakfast on Christmas morning - all the other channels will be showing kids programmes, so this actually DOES give viewers more choice. I for one would rather see the news than rubbishy cartoons or stupid movies in the morning. Not that I'll be awake before 9 anyway!

And I'm sure they will make it as festive as possible - last year's was cool, with Bill and Sarah Wilmshurst and that hat!

But he makes a fair point that you will be in the minority, and that it is lazy scheduling from the BBC to just stick a news filler in there.

I don't think that's lazy at all - producing a three-hour news programme takes a lot more effort than playing out three hours of taped childrens programmes (I would imagine). The BBC are also providing some choice for viewers here - no other terrestrial channel will provide a full news service on Christmas morning.

But it wont be a full news service - nothing of note happens domestically on Christmas day, so we'll be left with reports on the nations favourite Christmas carols, and endless repeats of BBC World travel and technology programming. We should be enjoying ourselves!
