Telewest has confirmed that new carriage deals have been reached with Channel 4, Eurosport, TV Travel Shop, The Community Channel and Teachers TV.

The new agreement with Channel 4 ensures the continued carriage of E4 and FilmFour, as well as carriage of More 4 when it launches.

Teachers TV will be added to the platform when it launches in February.

"These new agreements build on the successful December launches of ABC1 and E4+1," said Telewest's president and COO, Eric Tveter. "We've secured some popular existing channels and we'll be introducing some exciting newcomers too. We're pleased to start the new year as we mean to go on - by continuing to offer an excellent choice of viewing at the best possible price."

The cable operator is currently embroiled in a carriage dispute with Nickelodeon. The two parties have failed to agree new carriage terms since the original agreement expired last December.

Please tell us Teachers TV isn't going to take up vital space on Freeview as well.

Yes, Teachers TV will be coming to Freeview, but only overnight so it'll just be using bandwidth that would normally go unused.

Just right for school hours then!

Seriously though, do schools watch "school" programmes LIVE anymore?

With BBC2's school schedule being all-over the place, and C4 passing off mainstream programmes for it's 4 Learning strand, I doubt they are used anywhere as much as when I was in (primary) school.

God - just realised I left primary school 11 years ago - feeling old!
