Interesting insight this thread. Tumble (or Craig, hello Craig) happens to have OCD which explains quite a bit and David has a thing for particularly low-rent quiz TV tat and is quite proud of it.

But does anyone have anything of actual mention? Avago crap (which I'm guessing they still had boxes of the stuff once they shut down) does not make for historical merchandise.

See page 3 for pics of my lovely BBC News mousemat Very Happy It's not tatty at all, in fact it seems to be totally indestructable as I've had it for about five years now and it's fine apart from a little bumpy bit (strategically covered by the mouse)

I have a Brookside mug, with the " Brookside " logo that appeared on the end in credits in dark blue on a white mug.

Not that I consider this tat, but I also have " Brookside The Official Companion " signed by Jason Hope, Simon O;Brien, Kevin Carson, Paul Usher and Sean ( somebody ) who played Jamie ( Tracey Corkhill's boyfriend ). Smile

The Thames Television badge not of historic interest then?

It'll be easier to mention what was good so far; Johnny's grab bag of pins, Lorns' Douglas figurine (would like a pic, thankies) and the Big Brekkie clock. Beyond that, what is there of merit? Surely there has to be something from a better era of tat (1970's-early 90's)?

More to be added over the weekend so if you are interested keep checking back.

Nice collection of stuff you've got there. How did you acquire it all? I too managed to get one of those HTV 30 mags one year late 1990s when HTV were at the Bath Christmas lights switch-on. If I've still got it I ought to keep it in my collection of TV related memorabilia. Also I met Peter Rowell there.

I shall make it my mission to dig Douglas out from the loft or wherever it is i've put him. I'm a terrible hoarder. I have shedloads of stuff in my attic. Anyhoo my Douglas i got over 10 years ago from some dairy Rep. It's a stuffed toy version he even had the trombone too, he used too sit on the parcel shelf of my car instead of a nodding dog.

Thanks for posting. I still don't remember the show. Hope you had a nice birthday though.

Erm, well it wasn't actually on my 18th birthday (Saturday 30 September 1989), for various reasons it happened nearly two months later, on Saturday 25 November 1989. It was a great party, with an excellent buffet.

18th. Thats not what the banner behind you says.

It does say 18th actually, not 8th as you might think it does. Unfortunately when the photo was taken, the 1 of 18th got cut off, except right hand side of its bottom serif. Anyway, it does say 18 in the dot at the bottom of the exclamation mark. Someone at my school made that for me, I'm pretty sure I still have that banner rolled up along with wallpaper and posters in the base of my bed.

Thanks, one thing I forgot to mention is that the Thames Badge is about the same size as a modern 10p & the ITV sport one is slightly smaller than a current 5p!

Well here's a few more, not as good as before:

Various TV Tat:

Rubber keyring for BBC Digital Radio (dating from 1997/8, possibly a bit later but just before they launched the digital radio stations), Essex Radio Badge (now Essex FM), 1980's TOTP Badge (unfortunately rather faded, has pre / B / / B / / C / logo on it, badge for The Prisoner (better image below) & not TV / radio related but on TV alot a little blast from the past Smile

The Prisoner Badge

Got this one from my cousin, she doesn't even know where it came from.

These images were taken on a camera phone, the battery's flat in my digital camera

I conducted a survey of marketing and promotions material when I was at college so got a lot of stuff from stations then... since I have developed quite an obscure past time collecting as much free crap as I can, mainly from media outlets though. I don't get much these days though. If I'm working at a Radio Station or friends/collegues of mine are working at TV/Radio channels I ask them to nick me a few bits but I'm not activly collecting anymore. Most of this stuff lives in my attic and rarely see's the light of day.

As for the AVAGO stuff, I was a regular viewer David you may remember KingKongBaldOne... AVAGO was great interactive television and build up a weird virtual friendship withmany of the guys there so got sent loads of stuff in the mail. Got more lying around in the attic... I just haven't found it yet.

For anyone interested I will get some more stuff together over the weekend... it's actually nice to see it all photographed and all in one place.
