Should television be mostly about entertainment or education

Sadly I think that it is safe to say that the experiment with television has now failed. I believe that TV should primarily revolve around educative programmes rather than light - hearted ' entertainment '. Comedy, sport, soap operas and ' reality tv ' do not constitute education but merely pander to the dumbed - down masses who crave this sort of material. Unfortunately it will be more difficult to ever attain a more cerebral society if ratings dictate that low quality tv stays.

To inform, educate and entertain. In that order.

I think Television should Inform, entertain, educate, communicate equally, rather than favour one over the other...
