I voted for ITV1 2004/5 Christmas idents. Have to see what they can come up with this year!

I wouldn't get too excited Sad

oh dear, what's it going to be then - normal idents with a sparkle on the logo ala 2002?

Not even that from what we've been told. Just the usual

So the theme for this year's Xmas pres is "How ITV1 would look at Christmas if Scrooge was in charge"?

I cannot believe they'd just continue with standard idents.

Or maybe, I could - this is ITV1.

Let us hope in any case, that 2007 is the year we start getting more of the old ITV quality back, in every aspect.

My favouritest ever festive presentation was on BBC1 when I was quite young. I'm sure it was during the COW era, possibly either Dec 1989 or Dec 1990.

It was all this "pop-up" reality coming out of a book. I think it was something like a wizard walking up a staircase into a fairytale castle, or something. My memory is very very hazy. When the book shuts, it's front cover has a moon (possibly with a smiley face?) on it, instead of a globe (I think). Nothing's ever topped that IMHO.

I also really really liked the festive Carlton hearts. And especially the "champagne bubbles" Carlton hearts idents for New Years.

It was 1990 (if my memory's correct). 1989's BBC 1 ident was the globe in the form of a child's spinning top.

If I had to choose a favourite, I'd go for 1980's Victorian skaters on BBC 1 or the trumpeters on BBC 2 from 1978, or BBC 1's christmas pudding in 1977. (yes, I am old enough to remember those ones!)

The old days of the BBC did feature some of the best pres for christmas (the BBC globes for example). For ITV I would consider the snowflakes of 2003 to be the best graphicals, but the past two years have been pretty good. Channel 5 I would consider their best to be the Ice they used last year. And Channel 4, wheres the festivity gone there?

What a shame. The current set is really good and they could have done something for Christmas. I'm surprised the logo isn't even getting the sparkle treatment. Sad

The best out of that bunch has to be the santa BBC1 balloon in 2000, although the 1999 ho ho ho santa ident was also great! I wish those ones were played as long as the new ones on BBC1 are recently.
